Diamond painting sealer for loose drills: Hasi coating liquid

In short

Hasi Diamond Painting Coating Liquid is a craft sealer for finished diamond paintings in Korea. I applied it little by little to a 30×40 piece with loose drills and checked the shine, drying time, and brush cleanup. Verdict: worth trying for finished diamond paintings you are worried will shed drills.

The problem I had after finishing a 30×40 diamond painting

I recently worked on some small diamond-painting character designs and fell for the charm of diamond painting, so I tried a slightly larger design. After about three days, the 30×40 size was finished... Next time, I feel challenged to shorten the time and film a hyperlapse~ haha

But... even though I thought I had been careful, I kept finding an empty spot here and there... I had not organized the drills yet, so I carefully finished the gaps... But it turned out... I had not missed them!

Just brushing my palm over these drills made them come tumbling down... T_T

What comes with Hasi Diamond Painting Coating Liquid

So I wondered whether there was a way to store my diamond-painting work with less damage... and that is how I found diamond-painting coating liquid! I received it and tried it right away~ Hasi Diamond Painting Coating Liquid comes in a large 247 ml size!!

When I opened the product, there was the main bottle, which resembles wood glue, and an included silicone brush.

The silicone brush has such good spring that I worried, “What if it pulls the drills up while I apply it?”! (To tell you in advance... the brush did not damage the piece, and it spread the liquid so smoothly~)

The bottle has a manufacturing date printed on it, but I was told there is no separate expiration date... It has also passed safety standards, so it can be used safely! Because of the nature of the product, you use it close to your breathing zone, but I only noticed after I had finished... Huh?! It has no smell?? haha The box and bottle both explain how to use it clearly and simply with text and pictures~

The attached cap and clear liquid formula

I think it is great that the cap is attached to the bottle, so there is no chance of losing it! With separate caps, the opening can dry out if you close the cap while it is still not fully dry after use, right? But Hasi Diamond Painting Coating Liquid has an attached cap, which reassured me! Like when using a craft adhesive, only the amount you need comes out through the designated opening, which is another neat advantage.

When you open the red cap fully, there is an inner cap like one on liquid glue. Open that cap and there is a clear liquid formula. Since it does not have the unpleasant smell of glue, it made me feel it would be safe to use! If you put the clear stopper back on after use, you should be able to use the product for a long time, right?!

Applying the coating liquid a little at a time

I twisted the red cap slightly and applied the product onto the piece. You can see it dispense just the amount needed, so smoothly.

When I pushed it around with the included silicone brush, I could see the diamond-painting coating liquid soaking into the spaces between the drills.

It was hot, so I worked with a fan on... I did not know how quickly it would become tacky, so I applied a little, spread it out, then applied another section and spread that out too^^

Ta-da!!! It is finally done~ After coating the 30×40 piece, I think I used about one-third of the bottle... Since it was my first time, I was in an experimental mood... I tried spreading it thinly and also poured on enough to fill around the drills, so I think I used quite a lot^^

Shine, drying time, and washing the brush

The areas touched by the diamond-painting coating liquid have so much sparkling shine~ Now the drills will not fall off one by one just because I touch them, right?! It takes two hours to dry, but they say drying time can vary depending on how much you apply... so I will not touch it carelessly and will feel it tomorrow morning~

I simply washed the used silicone brush with water, and it came out squeaky clean with no adhesive residue left behind~

This product can be used on puzzles and diamond paintings, so I think it would be nice for anyone who enjoys the same hobby as me to try~

I think I could probably use it another three or four times on pieces of the same size~ The piece feels quite weighty now that I have applied the coating liquid... I will add an update with the result tomorrow^^
