Sinnonhyeon bakery for kadayif choco salt bread: Bakerist Brown
In short
Bakerist Brown (베이커스트 브라운) is a large red-brick bakery café in Yeoksam, between Sinnonhyeon Station and Gangnam Station in Seoul. On a weekday visit to Bakerist Brown, the writer looked over a chocolate-coated salt bread topped with kadayif, a 3,500-won regular salt bread about the size of two fists and a 5,800-won dirty choco pain au chocolat, then tried an Einspänner, an iced Americano and sand cookies. For Gangnam, Bakerist Brown offers good value: big breads, roomy seating and sand cookies that aren't too sweet.

What kind of bakery is Bakerist Brown near Sinnonhyeon Station?
Bakerist Brown (베이커스트 브라운) is a red-brick bakery café in Yeoksam, near Sinnonhyeon Station in Gangnam. I went on a weekday and it was still a packed hotspot. There are so many pretty cafés around Sinnonhyeon Station, but this one really stood out with its red-brick look.
Oh, and there are lovely outdoor tables outside too. It's way too hot these days, but on a nice day it looked perfect for brunch outdoors.

The moment I stepped inside Bakerist Brown, the sweet, nutty smell of baking filled the air. It made my mouth water, so fragrant.

How much are the Wakppu salt bread and the regular salt bread, and how big are they?
The eye-catcher at Bakerist Brown is the chocolate-coated "Wakppu" salt bread topped with kadayif (shredded pastry), while the regular salt bread is ₩3,500 and about the size of two fists. You know how a Wakppu ball is useless once you've done it once? Skip the Wakppu ball and have the Wakppu salt bread instead.
The Wakppu salt bread honestly looked amazing. The bakery is famous for its salt bread, and the breads were huge.

The regular salt bread is ₩3,500, and unlike other salt bread shops, it's nearly two fists big. Salt bread these days starts at ₩4,000–4,500, right? And this is Gangnam, haha, so the value looked really great.

Of course, the fancier salt breads cost a bit more. But they're quite large, so they looked fine to me. It's the golden rule, isn't it: we tremble over a ₩100 bag fee at the convenience store but go easy on dessert and soju money.

Are there egg tarts, pastries and conch-shaped buns too?
Bakerist Brown has big egg tarts, buttery pastries and even sora-ppang (conch-shaped buns). I picked up an egg tart, one of my absolute favorite desserts. It's huge too, and packed with filling, so it looked really, really good. If you love egg tarts, I recommend the egg tart at this Sinnonhyeon Station bakery!

There are lots of rich, buttery pastries too. The red-brick exterior alone is full of prettiness. A great dessert place is something you eat with your eyes too, right?

The conch-shaped buns are legendarily cute, so cute. They say everything is handmade with French butter and ingredients, and now I see why Bakerist Brown is a hotspot.

How much is the dirty choco pain au chocolat?
The dirty choco pain au chocolat at Bakerist Brown is ₩5,800. It looks like a towel cake. I'm looking for a neighbor (fellow blogger) who'll eat this in front of a crush and smile brightly. Tell me how it goes!

They also sell the never-fail basil cream cheese combo, and regular madeleines in various flavors.

The apple crumble pie looked tasty too, so I picked one out.

Is the seating good for studying or meetups?
Bakerist Brown is very spacious, so it's good for studying or working in a café (kagong), and with long group tables I recommend it as a meetup spot near Sinnonhyeon Station and Gangnam Station!! That big space is exactly why I recommend it.
There's a semi-basement space, and I think it goes up to the 2nd or 3rd floor? Each floor has different air-conditioning strength and crowd density, so you can pick the seat you want. The long group tables make it great for gatherings.

How were the Einspänner and the sand cookies?
At Bakerist Brown I had an Einspänner (cream-topped coffee), an iced Americano and colorful sand cookies, and the best part was that the sand cookies weren't overly sweet. I'm a pro blogger, so I filled the plate with the signature menu.

An Einspänner whose flavor changes with every layer of each sip, and an iced Americano for the "iced even in winter" crowd (eoljuk-a).

I ordered the sand cookies because the colorful look pulled me in. You can choose from yellow cheese (hwang-chiseu), black sesame, chocolate, matcha and more, and the colors are so pretty that lots of people seem to take them away as gift desserts!

What I liked most was that they weren't overly sweet. I don't like very sweet desserts, but this was just thick, chewy and nutty~~ and crispy outside with a great texture too.

With a bittersweet Americano, I kept reaching for more. Crispy outside, dense and chewy inside. Is there anyone who hates that mix of textures...?
Actually, I asked them to leave out the matcha one, but it's fine.. it's pretty, haha. And anyway, I liked that it wasn't very sweet!

Is Bakerist Brown near Sinnonhyeon Station worth a visit?
Bakerist Brown is a Sinnonhyeon Station bakery that gets taste, atmosphere and looks all right. At a café, atmosphere and looks matter as much as taste, don't they?
It's already fairly famous as a bakery, so I kept seeing customers at the 1st-floor counter taking just bread and coffee to go!
