Suwon cake café on a Saturday: fruit slice over chocolate, Café Diaz
In short
Café Diaz Galleria Gwanggyo is a fresh-fruit cream cake café in the basement level 1 food hall of Galleria Gwanggyo in Suwon. Around 11 a.m. on a Saturday, the writer weighed a chocolate cream cake against a fruit slice piled with seasonal fruit, chose the fruit slice, and took it home with an iced café latte and an iced Americano; the fruit was fresh and the whipped cream light and clean. Café Diaz Galleria Gwanggyo is a good stop for cake and coffee to go while shopping in fig season.

I live in Gyeonggi Province and go to Galleria Gwanggyo a lot, and there's a seriously good cake place there ✨ It's Café Diaz, famous around Suwon for its strawberry cake! The weather was great on Saturday, so I went to Galleria and picked up a fruit cake with coffee for the first time in a while. And once again, I fell for the fresh fruit and the soft whipped cream.
Café Diaz Galleria Gwanggyo: location and hours
Café Diaz Galleria Gwanggyo (카페디아즈) is in the basement 1 level of Galleria Gwanggyo, and it's open Mon–Thu 10:30–20:00 and Fri–Sun 10:30–20:30. Parking is free depending on how much you spend at Galleria.

From the basement food hall of Galleria Gwanggyo, head toward the Suwon Convention Center and you've arrived at Café Diaz ✨ It had been a while since my last visit, and especially on a weekend, so I was a little giddy 🫧

Is there a place to sit at Café Diaz Galleria Gwanggyo?
Since it's inside the food hall, there's no indoor shop space, but there's an eating area where you can enjoy food bought in the hall ➿ When I came around 11 on Saturday, they were making a blueberry cake right in the shop, so I watched that while looking over the cakes.

You can even have a coffee while shopping at Galleria! Café Diaz is famous for cake, but the coffee is really good too ☕️

What cakes are in the Café Diaz showcase during fig season?
The showcase is packed with cakes ✨ Maybe because it's fig season, the fig cake piled with figs really stands out. Diaz is already known for being generous with fruit, and I buy cakes here whenever I give them to family and friends 🎂

This is the fruit whipped cream cake ✨ Blueberries, grapefruit, orange, kiwi, figs and more, all in one fresh whole cake from Café Diaz. Pretty, right?

Ta-da, the fig cake, gorgeous just to look at! The sponge at Diaz is really moist and the cream is so soft 🎂 But the kicker is the fruit. It's fresh and generous, and even though it's a slice, you can see it's loaded with figs.

Basque cheesecake, chocolate cream or fruit: which did I pick?
I've had the Basque cheesecake, the chocolate cream cake and the fruit cake at Café Diaz, and I couldn't decide what to order! Since it had been a while, I wanted to taste lots of different fruit, so I went straight for the fruit slice 🍓🍑🍈🍒 The fruit cake carries whatever fruit is in season, so you can even tell the seasons are changing just by looking at Diaz's cakes.
Reserve if you're coming on a weekend morning
When I came around 11 on Saturday, the cakes were still being filled in! You can reserve too, so if you're buying cake, book ahead and you can take what you want right away.

Café Diaz review event gifts
At Café Diaz, the gift changes with the number of reviews you write! One review gets you a financier (small almond cake), and three get you a cake slice. You can join once per receipt, so buy cake at Diaz and do the review event too!
Café Diaz iced café latte and iced Americano

The iced café latte was nutty and delicious. It had been a while since I had coffee at Diaz, and a coffee in the middle of shopping really hits the spot ☕️ There's a Diaz near my home and I used to go often, but I've been busy lately, so after a long break the latte tasted rich and lovely.

I took the iced Americano photo in the middle of shopping. I added extra ice, and honestly no coffee drink is as refreshing as an iced Americano ✨ It leans toward nutty beans rather than acidic ones, so it went down smoothly.
Café Diaz fruit cake slice, tasted at home
Ta-da, the Diaz fruit slice I'd been craving ➿ At the last second I agonized over chocolate versus fruit cake for ages, then chose fruit because I wanted lots of seasonal fruit, but once I got home I missed the chocolate... Clearly the right move is to buy 2 slices.

From figs to tangerines, kiwi and blueberries, it was packed with fruit, so heavenly 🍑🍓🍈 The whipped cream on Diaz cakes isn't greasy at all, it's really light, so you keep eating! If you love coffee like me, definitely order it with coffee. Even at home it's always a treat, a Galleria Gwanggyo cake spot ✨ It's fig season now, so let's eat figs at their best at Galleria Gwanggyo.
