Lil' Burger The Hyundai Seoul is a burger stand near the basement 1F food court of The Hyundai Seoul. We were at The Hyundai Seoul with the kids trying to figure out lunch, and this time we decided to try a handmade burger.

It's easy to eat while shopping and not too heavy for the kids, so this time we ordered a variety of burgers to share. I was especially curious about Lil' Burger since it started at Ttukseom Hangang Park and became known for its handmade burgers, and it's also well known for a menu item connected to chef Lee Won-il. Finding the orange burger truck in the basement food court

The Hyundai Seoul has so many places to eat that choosing a menu with kids becomes a whole task every time. This time we decided to keep it simple with burgers, since the kids love them too.

Lil' Burger is tucked in the basement 1F food court, and it caught my eye more than a typical burger shop because of its food-truck vibe. It's a convenient spot to stop by for a quick meal while shopping at The Hyundai Seoul.

Just look for the orange food truck.

Since it uses shared seating, it's a good idea to check if there are seats available nearby before ordering. We visited with the kids and each picked a different burger, and since each menu item has a different flavor direction, if you're visiting with a group, ordering different kinds to share is a good idea.

El Taco Burger set, 17,900 won: the chef's pick

The menu I was most curious about this visit was the El Taco Burger set for ₩17,900. This one is billed as chef Lee Won-il's pick, which made me even more curious. So even though we were visiting with the kids, I figured we should try something a little different and ordered the El Taco Burger.

As the name suggests, the El Taco Burger takes its idea from Mexican tacos, so it goes in a different flavor direction than a typical handmade burger. A juicy beef patty comes with savory American cheese, pico de gallo, cilantro, Lil' Burger's spicy homemade salsa mayo, and crispy onion rings.

One bite and it's clearly different from a regular cheeseburger. The tangy salsa and distinctive cilantro flavor add extra fun for anyone who loves Mexican food. That said, since it contains cilantro, it could be love-it-or-hate-it for people who dislike the flavor. I personally like this kind of exotic flavor, so it was fun for me.

The savory patty combines with the salsa and the crunchy onion rings, so you get several flavors and textures in one bite. Rather than just thinking of it as a 'spicy burger,' it's easier to understand as a taco translated into burger form.

Before visiting, I'd seen opinions that the El Taco Burger tastes good but can be a bit tricky to eat because of all the toppings, like nachos and onion rings. Eating it myself, it definitely wasn't a neat burger to eat, haha. But if you like this style of burger, it's worth trying at least once. If you've been curious about The Hyundai Seoul's Lee Won-il burger, I'd recommend the El Taco Burger.

Classic Burger set, 15,900 won: house-made bacon jam

The Classic Burger set costs ₩15,900. It clearly has a more diverse range of ingredients than the cheeseburger. It includes a premium beef patty and American cheese with romaine, tomato, and red onion, plus Lil' Burger's signature sauce and homemade bacon jam.

This one felt a bit richer than just eating a patty and cheese, since the vegetables and sauce come along for the ride. The tomato and romaine balanced out the heaviness of the patty, and the red onion added a crunchy bite that made the texture nice too.

What was fun about the Classic Burger was the homemade bacon jam. Adding bacon jam to the burger brought a subtle sweetness along with a salty kick, giving it a slightly different feel from a typical classic burger. The kids found the cheeseburger easier to eat, while I actually found the Classic Burger's variety of ingredients more interesting.

Cheeseburger set, 13,900 won: the easy one for kids

What we ordered for the kid was the most basic cheeseburger set. The price at the time of my visit was ₩13,900. If you're eating with kids, I'd recommend starting with the basic cheeseburger.

It's built on a soft milk velvet brioche bun with a beef patty, American cheese, and Lil' Burger's special sauce. Rather than a burger loaded with flashy toppings, this one lets you cleanly taste the combination of patty, cheese, and sauce.

The bun was softer than expected, which made it easy for the kids to eat too. Handmade burgers can be hard for kids when the patty is too thick or the sauce is too heavy, but the cheeseburger's relatively simple build made it comfortable to share with the kids. The patty had a good beefy flavor, and the cheese added a savory note, so even as a basic menu item, it wasn't boring.

If you're visiting with kids like I did, I'd suggest ordering one cheeseburger as a baseline and adding other menu items to share.

How the three Lil' Burger sets went with the kids

This time I visited with the kids and ordered three types of burgers, which worked well since everyone could pick based on their own taste. For kids, the cheeseburger is definitely the safest choice. If you like a wider range of ingredients and sauce flavor, the Classic Burger will suit you well.

And if you usually enjoy slightly exotic flavors like tacos or Mexican food, I'd recommend the El Taco Burger. If you're visiting with several people, it's best to order different burger types and share them. We ate all three together too, comparing the cheeseburger, classic burger, and el taco burger, and it was fun.

🍠 Swapping fries for sweet potato fries at Lil' Burger

Instead of just eating the fries included in the set, we swapped them for sweet potato fries. The extra charge was ₩1,000 each. Bottom line: it was a good call to switch.

Eating with the kids, they went through the sweet sweet potato fries faster than regular fries. Crispy on the outside with that soft, sweet potato flavor inside, they paired really well as a burger side.

Especially with a menu like the El Taco Burger that has salsa and spicy sauce, eating the sweet sweet potato fries in between felt like it reset the palate. If you're visiting with kids, I'd personally recommend swapping fries for sweet potato fries — the extra ₩1,000 was well worth it.

And true to its handmade burger identity, the patty and bun both had a real presence, clearly different from a typical fast-food burger.

If you're looking for a handmade burger at The Hyundai Seoul, put Lil' Burger on your list. Based on what I tried this time, here's how I'd suggest choosing to avoid disappointment:

And I'd also recommend swapping the set side for sweet potato fries like we did. The kids ate them better than expected, so I think I'll swap again next time too.
