Seongsu brunch spot for a weekend date: katsu sando at Seongsu Darak

In short

Seongsu Darak (성수다락) is a pasta and brunch restaurant on the 2nd floor of a white building on Ttukseom-ro 9-gil in Seongdong, Seoul. On a weekend date the writer waited about 20 minutes, pre-ordered from the menu while in line, then had Darak Ade, a katsu sando, Darak rosé pasta and corn gnocchi, with the katsu sando the clear favorite. Thanks to pre-ordering in line, the food at Seongsu Darak arrived soon after seating, making it a satisfying weekend date meal in Seongsu.

I had a date in Seongsu for the first time in a while this weekend >.<! We went to Seongsu Darak (성수다락), a hot spot in Seongsu these days, and I loved the vibe right away. It's great for tasty pasta and also for brunch, so I'd recommend it to anyone hunting for a good Seongsu brunch place. The atmosphere made it a satisfying date course too, so let me introduce it honestly!

How long is the weekend wait at Seongsu Darak?

When I visited on a weekend, I waited about 20 minutes outside the shop. It's a white building you spot right as you turn into the Seongsu alley, so it wasn't hard to find! The weather was hot, but the meal was so good that the wait didn't feel like a waste.

Pre-ordering in line means food right after you sit

While we waited, the staff brought us a menu ahead of time, so we could choose without rushing! They even took our order in line, so once we were seated, the food came out quickly!! 🌟 We could start eating with no waiting after entering, and I really liked this thoughtful system.

Atmosphere and interior of Seongsu Darak

The moment we stepped inside Seongsu Darak, the cozy, cute atmosphere hit us! Warm wood-tone interiors and sentimental little props go together nicely, so it was great for photos, and you could feel Darak's own charm everywhere. The relaxed mood and pretty decor made the whole meal fun, haha.

Darak Ade, served in a pineapple-shaped cup

Darak Ade at Seongsu Darak is a cold drink served in a pineapple-shaped cup. It was such a hot day that I wanted something icy, so we ordered it too!! 🍍 The first thing that caught my eye when it arrived was the cup. It wasn't an ordinary glass but a pineapple-shaped one, and it was way cuter than I expected, haha. It stood out even more in person than in photos, so I naturally reached for my camera.

And it wasn't just pretty, the taste was satisfying too. It wasn't an artificially sweet ade; the pineapple sweetness and refreshing fizz blended well, and the heat just melted away, haha. It also went well with creamy dishes like pasta, cleansing the palate between bites.

If you visit, I recommend trying the [pineapple ade] along with your mains! Both the taste and the look satisfied me, so it was the most memorable drink for me personally!

Seongsu Darak's katsu sando: my number one

The first dish out at Seongsu Darak was the katsu sando (fried pork cutlet sandwich), and it was the one I was happiest with that day. I exclaimed after the very first bite. It was really delicious!! 🤍 Crispy outside and juicy inside, the pork cutlet with soft white bread had a wonderful texture.

The sauce wasn't overpowering either and let the flavor of the meat shine, and after one piece I kept reaching for more. Personally it was the dish I liked most at Seongsu Darak!!!!

Is the signature Darak rosé pasta too heavy?

Seongsu Darak's signature Darak rosé pasta had a rosé sauce that wasn't heavy or greasy, just smooth and nutty ✨ It looked absolutely irresistible!!!! One bite and I understood why it's popular. The smooth, nutty flavors blended so well that I kept going back for more.

The sauce clung well to the noodles, and the rich flavor and subtle savoriness worked together for a very satisfying meal!! Eating it alongside the katsu sando was great too, since each had its own charm ~~

Corn gnocchi at Seongsu Darak, the most special dish

The last thing we ordered, the corn gnocchi at Seongsu Darak, pairs chewy gnocchi with the sweet, nutty flavor of corn 🌽 At first I wondered what it would taste like, but after one bite I understood why it's a popular dish~! Soft, chewy gnocchi plus corn flavor was really delicious!!!!

The sauce was rich and smooth and went well with the gnocchi, and the plate vanished in no time, hahaha. Of everything I ate at Seongsu Darak, this had the most special charm!! > Corn gnocchi!! I recommend it if you want to try a different kind of gnocchi 🤍

Yes, it's a Seongsu hot spot! A place I'd happily visit again: go to [Seongsu Darak]!
