What kind of restaurant is Muirang Mulhoerang Hyoseong Direct Branch?

Muirang Mulhoerang
With banners for rice bowls, mulhoe, and pajeon out front, you really can't just walk past this place!!
The weather's been getting a bit cooler lately and I could really feel fall arriving. One of the foods that comes to mind at times like this is seasonal prawns, so I went to Muirang Mulhoerang in Hyoseong-dong~

Even before stepping inside I was already so excited! A place confident about its assorted live-fish mulhoe. They also have a lunch special and seasonal menu, which is great.

Inside Muirang: sofa seats, big tables and kiosk ordering
Walking into Muirang Mulhoerang Hyoseong Direct Branch, you're greeted by a spacious interior with big tables and sofa seats, so it's a comfortable vibe for sitting down to eat. Plus the TV is huge with great sound, so it seems like a great spot to watch a game while you eat! As I was eating, more and more people kept coming in.

Here's a look at flipping through the kiosk screens for reference~
Live prawn salt grill (small), 35,000 won with free butter-grilled heads
Fall-season menu: prawn salt grill (small) ₩35,000, butter-grilled heads free!!

The prawns were overwhelming from the moment they arrived! And as the heat rose, the prawns started flopping around, so fresh.
The prawns were plumper than I expected and looked so delicious that I started snapping photos as soon as they came out. Laying the prawns on the salt to grill, as they cook a nutty, savory aroma rises up, and that smell really stirs up your appetite~ As the shells turn a nice golden brown and the prawn meat gets plump and springy, I peeled one open and tasted it — clean but with a subtle salty note that worked so well together.

The prawns turn redder and redder as the timer runs. Watching them change is genuinely fun!!

Peeling the prawn shells is part of the fun too.

And after finishing the prawn salt grill, you can't skip the butter-grilled heads~ They grill the prawn heads separately, and a rich, nutty flavor really comes through, making it a treat on its own. If you're someone who'd feel like something's missing after just eating the bodies, they'll do the butter grill for free, so make sure to enjoy it fully!!
I came that day for the prawn salt grill, but as I kept eating it filled me up surprisingly well, so it also worked fine as a light meal on its own. If you're wondering what to eat for fall's seasonal food, this is a dish that prawn lovers would definitely think of.

Dunking it fully in the vinegar-chili sauce for a proper 'sauce shower' before eating is heavenly!! I was completely hooked on the springy texture of the prawns.
The taster kalguksu you get for a receipt review
I heard that at Muirang Mulhoerang, writing a receipt review gets you a taste of kalguksu too, so I finished up with a taste of the noodle soup. Having the hot broth at the end was a great way to wrap things up. After the prawns, finishing with warm broth made everything feel even more satisfying!
This is the taste of kalguksu I got from the receipt review — isn't the quality way too good to be called a freebie? On top of that, the broth had a proper depth of anchovy and garlic flavor that was a nice touch.
Fall really is the season for hunting down seasonal food, isn't it. From the springy prawns to the nutty butter-grilled heads to the warm kalguksu, I got to enjoy it all in one visit and left satisfied!! If you're looking for fall-season prawn salt grill in Hyoseong-dong, I'd recommend trying the prawn salt grill and butter-grilled heads together at Muirang Mulhoerang Hyoseong branch :)
