Gwangju pasta restaurant with Mudeung Church parking: Bueokgan Sangmu

Today I want to introduce a place with a real overseas-vacation feel, like stepping into a European restaurant — Bueokgan Sangmu Branch, already word-of-mouth famous as a pasta spot in Gwangju's Sangmu district. The atmospheric interior alone would be worth the trip, but the food was just as good, so I really wanted to share this one. Here's my firsthand review!

Where is Bueokgan Sangmu Branch, and where do you park? (Mudeung Church lot)

Bueokgan Sangmu Branch is set a bit off the busy Sangmu district strip, which is a big plus — you get to enjoy your meal in a quiet, relaxed atmosphere.

There's a private parking lot here, so driving is convenient, but it can fill up during peak hours. No need to worry too much though — the nearby Uniddeung Church parking lot is available too, so you can visit without any parking stress.

Titanic ballroom interiors: the mood at Bueokgan Sangmu Branch

The moment I arrived at Bueokgan Sangmu Branch, the exterior alone made me gasp — it really felt like stepping into a café with European vibes.

And once I opened the door and stepped inside, the atmosphere was even more amazing!

Bueokgan Sangmu Branch is apparently designed around the concept of a vintage classic Italian hotel.

They say it's even modeled after the ballroom scene in the movie Titanic, and honestly, you could really feel that old-world elegance.

Unlike other places I've visited, this one had genuinely vintage props displayed all over, the kind you'd expect to see in a real European hotel — so much fun to look around, and so pretty.

The window seats looked so cozy just to look at, I wanted one myself,

and there was also a spacious group table, neatly set up, plenty big enough for a larger party — perfect for all kinds of gatherings.

What comes with Couple Set B, from garden salad to pepperoni pizza

True to its reputation as a pasta spot in Sangmu, the menu is diverse — pasta, salad, steak, pizza and more!

After a long think over the menu, we went with Couple Set B, a set menu that lets you try a bit of everything. It comes with salad, pasta, pizza, and a drink.

First up was the garden salad! Fresh greens topped with grated cheese and cherry tomatoes — exactly the kind of thing that gets your appetite going.

The orange and grapefruit drinks that came with it were rich and refreshing too, keeping things light and cool throughout the meal without any heaviness.

Shrimp anchovy oil pasta at Bueokgan Sangmu Branch

The shrimp anchovy oil pasta looked mouthwatering from the start! Plump, springy shrimp piled high, with the anchovy sauce carrying a gentle hint of garlic — the kind of dish that just makes you say 'this is good' out loud.

The noodles were cooked just right too, and eaten together with the shrimp, it was the ultimate in savory flavor.

Pepperoni pizza and house-made pickles

The pepperoni pizza, with pepperoni layered edge to edge on the dough, passed the visual test right away!

With the savory cheese aroma, salty pepperoni, and a little hot sauce drizzled on top, it just kept disappearing — no chance to get tired of it.

Oh, and the house-made pickles were sweet and tangy too, perfect for picking at one by one between bites!

Is Bueokgan Sangmu Branch worth a visit?

From the interior with its European atmosphere to the delicious menu that kept my mouth happy, I truly understood why Bueokgan Sangmu Branch has become known as a pasta spot in Sangmu. It's great for a special date, and just as good for grabbing a good meal with friends. If you're looking for a place with great atmosphere to enjoy a meal, I highly recommend a visit!
