Dubai chocolate salt bread at Dalgeuraem, a Gyesan-dong bakery café

Walking through the alleys of Gyesan-dong lately, more and more small, atmospheric cafés catch my eye. This time I stopped by Dalgeuraem (달그램), a Gyesan-dong bakery café with a warm vintage mood and a wide bakery lineup.

Every morning they bake bread and cakes right in the store, and the lineup ranges from basics to unusual salt breads and seasonal cakes. This time I picked the Dubai chocolate salt bread and corn mayo bburing salt bread I'd been curious about, plus a fig yogurt cake.

Where Dalgeuraem is and when it opens

Dalgeuraem is at 9-7 Jubuto-ro 543beon-gil, Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, South Korea, ground floor, open Tue–Sat 10:00–21:00 with last order at 20:30. Takeout, delivery and reservations are all available, along with wifi, a high chair and easy payment.

Finding Dalgeuraem in the Gyesan-dong alleys

Dalgeuraem sits on the ground floor of a red brick building tucked deep in a Gyesan-dong alley. It blends naturally into the residential neighborhood, but the ivory-colored facade and yellow awning made it easier to spot than I expected.

Next to the café runs a narrow passage where bright stone-toned flooring meets a yellow awning, creating a mood all its own. Lights and small props line the wall, so there was plenty to look at slowly before even stepping inside.

A big Eiffel Tower object, small sculptures, and a hand-lettered wood board made a real impression. Rather than an over-decorated look, each little prop carries the mood, so the exterior alone was great for photos.

Parking at Dalgeuraem: none of its own

Dalgeuraem has no dedicated parking of its own. If you're driving, it's best to check nearby parking options before you visit.

Inside Dalgeuraem: a cosy warm wood interior

Step inside and you'll find a clean space where white walls meet wood furniture. Overall, rather than over-decorating, the wooden furniture, small lighting, and plant accents keep things calm.

Along one side of the store, the bakery items are lined up, and a separate cake showcase sits further in. You can browse everything from bread to cake in one place, and with a high chair on hand, it also looks easy to visit with kids.

Personally, my favorite spot was by the floor-to-ceiling windows. During the day, sunlight stretches deep into the store, falling warmly over the wood tables and chairs — a perfect mood for relaxing over coffee. There's also a restroom inside, so you don't need to step outside.

Salt bread and cakes baked in-store every morning

They say Dalgeuraem's pastry chefs bake bread and cake every morning in-house, using gourmet butter and carefully selected ingredients.

The store had salt breads (소금빵), croissants, baked cookies and various other bakery items ready, alongside a range of cakes. The lineup can change day to day, so checking Dalgeuraem's Instagram before visiting would make it easier to pick out what you want.

All salt bread flavors can be packed into a gift box too, which is handy if you're buying several or planning them as a gift.

Dalgeuraem drink menu and prices

The drink menu spans coffee, signature lattes, non-coffee drinks, ades and teas.

Americano is ₩4,000, café latte ₩4,500, vanilla bean latte ₩5,000, and the signature vanilla bean cream, peanut cream and black sesame cream lattes are each ₩6,000.

For those who don't drink coffee, there's also matcha latte, chocolate latte, fruit juice, ade and various teas, so the choices are fairly broad.

With coffee, a cake and two kinds of salt bread on the tray, it looked plenty full. Everything had such clear visual appeal that I ended up taking several photos before eating a bite.

Dalgeuraem is a small café tucked in an alley, but its own warm mood carries through from the exterior all the way inside.

Above all, with such a wide range of in-house bakery items and cakes, it's a place better suited to enjoying dessert along with your coffee rather than just stopping for a drink.
