Ilsan duck stir-fry restaurant with pressed fried rice: Seokgi Sidae

In short

Seokgi Sidae is a duck restaurant in Ilsan, Goyang, Gyeonggi, right in front of the Gusan IC exit on Jayu-ro. Two people shared a half portion of duck stir-fry (ori jumulleok), which came with duck soup, rice, grilled kimchi and a finishing round of fried rice, with a staff member stir-frying the meat from start to finish. With a large parking lot and a roomy dining room, Seokgi Sidae works just as well for a family meal as for a work dinner.

Today I went to 'Seokgi Sidae' for some duck stir-fry! Let me post everything from the location to the full review.

Head toward 3 Songsan-ro, Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi, and right after you get off at Guson IC on Jayu-ro, there's Seokgi Sidae!

Exterior of Seokgi Sidae with its garden

The outside was unexpectedly (?) decked out like a café, with a pretty garden — turns out the owner also runs a café upstairs on the 2nd floor!

Parking is a big plus too — there's a large lot right in front of the restaurant, so you can park easily and just go eat.

Inside Seokgi Sidae: dining room and seating

Interior space at Seokgi Sidae fit for group meals

The inside was bigger and cleaner than I expected — surprised me✨ With this much space, it'd be perfect for a work dinner or family meal too!☝🏻

There's a self-serve bar that's kind of not really a self-serve bar (?) — if you ask, the owner just brings you more side dishes, so we never actually had to go get anything ourselves...

Seokgi Sidae's menu! From duck stir-fry to charcoal-grilled duck, and even duck soup — which they also sell as a lunch special.

There's a bathroom inside too, and it's super clean (I have no idea how seriously they take hygiene here).

Half a portion of duck stir-fry, cooked at the table by a staff member

The side dishes came out first! Lettuce wraps and pickled radish — the essentials for duck stir-fry🥹

Half portion of duck stir-fry

The duck stir-fry came out quickly! Already drooling••🤤 (looking at the photo again makes me want it all over)

They cook the duck lightly first, then throw in the vegetables and stir-fry it all together • • • • •

The staff member cooked and grilled everything piece by piece for us, so easy..!🤍 (I just got to sit there like a baby bird...)

The duck soup that comes with every stir-fry order

While waiting for the stir-fry to cook, out came duck soup!! Was it a freebie? Turns out it's actually a standard side that comes with the stir-fry order🥹 Boss, keep this up and I'm becoming a regular??

Packed with bean sprouts, water dropwort, radish, and even duck meat, and it's got a bit of a spicy kick, so great to have between bites (the kind of taste that calls for soju...)

Fully cooked duck stir-fry on the grill

The duck stir-fry finally finished cooking!! Honestly it felt like it only took about 3 minutes because we were busy eating the soup lol

Best ways to eat the duck stir-fry

It's delicious even on its own, but of course stir-fry has to be with pickled radish🤤🤤

Duck stir-fry piled on pickled radish
Duck stir-fry wrapped in perilla leaf and pickled radish
Duck stir-fry wrap topped with garlic and chili pepper

But no matter what anyone says, wrapping it in perilla leaf + pickled radish is the best (garlic and chili peppers to taste🤍)

Duck meat wrapped in bok choy and napa cabbage

It was also great wrapped in the bok choy and napa cabbage that came with it!! The duck stir-fry itself is just so good that it tastes great with literally anything🥹

We were going to just eat the fried rice, but couldn't resist and ended up ordering a bowl of rice too;; just mixing the duck meat straight into the rice is delicious too🪿

Duck meat wrap stuffed with rice as well

Wrapping it up with rice inside too — is this actually heaven..?

Kimchi placed on one side of the grill

A staff tip: grill the kimchi on the pan

On the staff member's tip that kimchi tastes great grilled, we threw it right on the grill (staff advice is basically never wrong.)

The kimchi looked amazing even before we tried it... if this doesn't taste good, something's wrong;;

Kimchi grilled until golden brown
Grilled kimchi served on top of rice

We ate it just on top of rice, and also wrapped in leaves — both were delicious...

Why the finishing fried rice has to be pressed down

Fried rice

We left a little duck meat aside and ordered the fried rice. We cut up the leftover duck meat into small pieces with scissors ourselves haha. When you order the fried rice, they bring rice + perilla leaf + kimchi + dried seaweed flakes and stir-fry it all for you🥹

Finishing fried rice stir-fried with perilla leaf, kimchi, and seaweed flakes

The staff member told us to let it sit a bit and press it down before eating for the best taste, but honestly we couldn't resist and dug in a little early... but once we let it sit and pressed it down, I totally got why they told us to (it's just on a whole different level)

Can you see that pressed, crispy part of the fried rice there? That part is the whole point🌟

Felt like eating a taco;; (that's fried rice in pickled radish.)

One more tip for serious eaters

Side dish salad placed on top of the fried rice
A spoonful of fried rice topped with salad

Putting the salad that came out as a side dish at the start on top of the fried rice is pure paradise!! After trying this once, I put salad on every remaining bite of fried rice after that

Ended things with someone secretly confessing their love here and there... and a zero-calorie cola! Ugh, next time I'll leave the car at home so I can have soju and beer ㅡㅡ

Scraped every last bit clean and left!! We walked out patting our stomachs saying we felt like we were about to burst...

The garden out front looked even prettier at night. Part of me wanted to sit there with a coffee, but we had somewhere else to be next😭😭

The garden in front of Seokgi Sidae lit up at night

Left Seokgi Sidae so satisfied!! Already decided I need to bring my family next time!

Seokgi Sidae in one line

  • Both the parking lot and the dining room are huge, so I highly recommend it for a meal out!
  • The duck stir-fry is so good that now I really want to try the charcoal-grilled duck next time too
  • Both the staff and the owner were so kind, it just put me in a good mood hehe🤍
