Why Jeju Eunhuine the day after a KT Wiz Park game

The day after watching a baseball game at KT Wiz Park in Suwon, we went looking for a hangover fix at Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch (제주은희네해장국 수원인계점) in Ingye-dong. After the previous night's drinks, I was craving a hearty broth first thing in the morning, haha. There was one place I'd wanted to try since before coming to Suwon, and that was Jeju Eunhuine.

It's a hangover soup (haejangguk) brand that started in Jeju and became famous nationwide, so I knew the name well but had never had the chance to eat there. It happened to be close to our accommodation, so we stopped in, and it was more satisfying than I expected, a great Ingye-dong find.

A hangover soup spot near City Hall Station: is parking easy?

The restaurant has its own parking lot. That was honestly the best part: a big lot. Many restaurants in Suwon are hard to park at, so it was a relief to drive here without worry. For anyone coming by car, that alone makes it a very satisfying spot near Suwon City Hall Station!

The interior was much bigger and cleaner than I expected. The tables are spaced out comfortably, so it would work well for a family meal or a get-together with friends.

Even after lunchtime, customers kept coming in, so you can really feel it's a popular Ingye-dong spot, haha. Everyone seemed to be sobering up refreshingly after a night of drinking ^0^

Ordering 3 bowls: what makes Jeju-style hangover soup different?

That day we ordered 3 bowls of hangover soup. Jeju Eunhuine is a go-to near Suwon City Hall Station, but the style originally became famous in Jeju. I heard its signature is eating it with plenty of scallions and dadegi (seasoned chili paste).

So many people visit nationwide that my expectations were high. I could finally try it myself, and I sensed instinctively it was my kind of style, so I was excited even before eating, haha.

Side dishes: kkakdugi, cheongyang chili peppers, minced garlic

The basic side dishes are kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), cheongyang chili peppers and minced garlic, set out before the food arrived. The kkakdugi was especially memorable. The cubes are cut big and looked barely seasoned, but when I tried it, it was cool and refreshing with just the right seasoning, and it didn't fight the soup, haha. Not harsh, and the crunch kept me reaching for more!

Scallion and dadegi-loaded soup: should you add the minced garlic?

I recommend tasting the broth as it is first, then adding plenty of the minced garlic that comes with it. The soup arrived soon after, and the look of it was overwhelming... a huge bowl piled with scallions and dadegi, and you could feel the spicy kick just by looking, hahaha.

I stirred in lots of garlic and dadegi too, and the broth became much deeper with a stronger savory punch. Spicy yet rich, it was totally charming. After one spoonful I understood why so many people recommend it as an Ingye-dong favorite...

Sunji, offal, meat and glass noodles: how generous are the fillings?

The soup comes loaded with sunji (congealed ox blood), offal, thinly sliced meat and dangmyeon (glass noodles). The sunji was soft with no gamey smell, and the offal wasn't tough, with a nice chew. The fillings alone could fill you up, and there was so much in it that the broth almost felt short, which was very satisfying,,

A spoonful of broth, a piece of sunji, then offal and meat together, and the hangover really did lift the morning after drinking. A soup that lives up to its name, haha. That's why I think the reputation as a City Hall Station favorite in Suwon suits it.

Black rice: my husband polished off two bowls

The black rice served with the soup was good too. It was nuttier than white rice, and with the rich broth it was doubly filling. My husband is a rice monster, so he finished two bowls of rice alone, hahaha. I felt the previous night's baseball drinks were properly cured, which made it an even more satisfying meal.

Is Jeju Eunhuine in Ingye-dong worth going back to?

Jeju Eunhuine Suwon Ingye Branch is a good place to fix a hangover and have a hearty lunch in one go. Eating it myself, I could see why it's loved nationwide after starting in Jeju. It's not just a spicy hangover soup: the rich broth, generous fillings and the fun of adding minced garlic to taste kept it delicious to the end.

On top of that, the spacious interior and convenient parking make it easy for families or travelers to eat here, a great Ingye-dong lunch spot. Not having to worry about parking was a big plus too! If you're craving a hearty soup in Suwon, Jeju Eunhuine near City Hall Station should be a no-fail choice,,,
