Indoor date escape room in Hongdae with faulty props: Cube Escape

In short

Cube Escape Hongdae Branch is an escape room café on the 4th floor of the Mugwang Building on Yanghwa-ro 16-gil in Mapo, Seoul, with 8 themes. The writer paid ₩22,500 per person for two to play Pyramid, the easiest adventure theme at Cube Escape Hongdae Branch, but failed to escape when the last lock would not open. The writer was also disappointed by the dark interior and the old props and devices that did not work properly. Even so, with its wide choice of themes and low prices, Cube Escape Hongdae Branch is worth recommending to anyone looking for a budget-friendly escape room in Hongdae.

Cube Escape Pyramid theme story

Cube Escape Pyramid theme poster

An explorer who roams your world! The final goal is the pyramids of Egypt! You've received information that the source of an enormous treasure has been located. To wrap up your glorious journey, you set out on the expedition with your family and loved ones! While exploring the mysterious pyramid, you and your party become trapped inside. You must use every clue in the room to escape the pyramid. You have only 60 minutes. Escape the pyramid in time!

How hard and how scary is the Pyramid theme?

The Pyramid theme at Cube Escape Hongdae Branch is recommended for 2 players with a 60-minute limit. It isn't that difficult, so I think two people can handle it fine.

★☆☆☆☆

It's probably the lowest-difficulty theme at Cube Escape Hongdae Branch. Having played it myself, I thought it wasn't that hard.

☆☆☆☆☆

A few devices give you a little scare and the atmosphere is dark, so it was very slightly scary. I really hate scary things, and I got through it, so you'll be fine.

★☆☆☆☆

When you first walk in, the room is so dark that it's hard to see inside, so be careful. Also, the props and devices are generally quite worn, so some of them didn't work properly. If something doesn't work, I recommend contacting the staff right away.

Lock and device ratio

The Pyramid theme is 70% locks and 30% devices. There were a lot of locks, but there were quite a few devices in the room too!

Cube Escape hint system guide

How many hints can you use at Cube Escape?

At Cube Escape you can use 4 hints! You tap the hint number on the phone and enter it, and the answer appears.

If you scan the QR code before entering and complete the challenge, you get one extra hint, so if you're not confident, I recommend taking the extra hint before playing.

Pyramid result and overall review

If you escape successfully, you get a different prize depending on how many hints you used... but sadly, our last lock wouldn't open, so we failed to escape, sob.

The Pyramid theme I tried this time felt less like puzzles you solve while naturally getting absorbed in the story and more like puzzles that exist just to be solved. It was a bit disappointing this time, but I suspect the other themes are more fun, so next time I'll have to come back and try a different one!!

For anyone looking for a budget escape room in Hongdae, I think Cube Escape Hongdae Branch is worth recommending, haha. The themes are varied and the price is cheap!!
