Seongsu ring workshop: weekday friendship rings, 20+ designs, Robenta
In short
Robenta Seongsu (로벤타 성수) is a silver ring one-day class workshop on Yeonmujang-gil near Seongsu Station Exit 3 in Seongdong, Seoul. The writer visited Robenta Seongsu on a weekday with a friend, chose one of more than 20 designs (around ₩100,000 per ring), shaped the ring by hand and picked up the finished moissanite-set ring about 1 hour later the same day. Thanks to the instructor's finishing touches, even makers with clumsy hands get jeweler-quality rings, so Robenta Seongsu is a solid pick for a friendship ring or couple ring date.

How to get to Robenta Seongsu from Seongsu Station
Today I tried a unique Seoul date activity: a visit to the Seongsu ring workshop Robenta.

Robenta Seongsu is very close, within a 5-minute walk of Seongsu Station Exit 3! You go up to the 2nd floor by the stairs next to the real estate office, haha.

Is a weekday visit to Robenta Seongsu more private?
Because I went on a weekday, I got to make my ring in a private, quiet atmosphere at Robenta Seongsu. I heard weekends fill up, so booking ahead is a must~~
Ta-da! This is the interior, a space full of charm, with wooden tables and chairs lined up in a row.

How many ring designs are there, and how much does a ring cost?
There are more than 20 ring designs to choose from at Robenta Seongsu. They're said to be designed by a jewelry designer with 30 years of experience, and maybe that's why every single one is sooo pretty that I think I spent 30 minutes just choosing, hahaha.

A ring costs around ₩100,000. That might feel a little pricey, but I was told Robenta's silver rings aren't ordinary silver: they use inspected, top-grade 92.5% silver!! I wear accessories a lot and care about materials, so having this explained so carefully made me trust them even more.

Picking friendship rings together: how is ring size measured?
A staff member at Robenta Seongsu measures your ring size with a sizing ring, and even gives tips on choosing a size that suits the type of ring.
I also loved trying on different rings with my friend, talking about what suits our hands and comparing. It felt less like a ring-making activity and more like a date course for making memories together..🤍

With the design and size picked, it's finally time to make the ring!

They even have cute aprons ready. You can tie each other's aprons and be all lovey-dovey^^ We're past that stage, though..haha. Highly recommended as an early-relationship couple date too🫶
Is the ring-making process difficult?
Ring making at Robenta Seongsu goes in this order: smoothing the surface → tidying the top and bottom faces → sanding → finishing with machines. It was my first time at a ring workshop and I expected it to be hard, but the staff member explained each step kindly, so it was easier to follow than I thought.
- Smooth the bumpy parts of the ring surface with a long metal tool. Rubbing it by hand and shaping it was more fun than I expected!
- Neaten the top and bottom faces of the ring with a file-like tool
- Sand it once more, carefully. You can see the surface getting smoother, which was amazing.
- Do the final finish on the inside and outside with a spinning professional machine. After this step the shine really comes alive!! Wow!

The activity itself was fun, but the best part was sitting side by side with my companion, making rings and chatting about this and that. We looked at each other's rings, imagined how they'd turn out, and laughed and talked until we lost track of time, haha.
When do you get the finished ring? The 1-hour wait
After you finish making your ring and hand it in, the teacher at Robenta Seongsu does one more round of polishing and sets the stone. That takes about 1 hour, so we decided to look around the shop again and go grab a meal in the meantime!

There's a pretty photo zone in one corner of the shop, and I bet a photo of your finished ring placed there would turn out lovely..💕 And the ring, finished one hour later, is..!!!

Can clumsy hands make a good ring? Finished ring quality
Is this..my..ring? My friends all agree I have clumsy hands, but thanks to the teacher at Robenta Seongsu finishing it so well, the quality was so good I couldn't believe I'd made it, and the shine was really pretty. It honestly looks like it came from a Jongno jewelry shop..💫

They also took a Polaroid photo for us and put the ring in a pretty bag. The packaging quality is quite good too, so it'd be great for an anniversary gift, friendship rings or couple rings!!
Epilogue: the sparkle of moissanite

I love how it sparkles softly every time it catches the light, and now I've caught the disease of constantly staring at my hand.. The center stone is moissanite, not cubic zirconia, so it doesn't have a cheap shine at all. It sparkles in so many colors, which makes it even prettier.
Why Robenta Seongsu makes a great Seongsu date or friend outing
If you're looking for a Seongsu date course, I highly recommend the ring workshop Robenta! Making the ring was of course fun, but what I liked even more was choosing designs together, talking and making memories. It's also great that you get the finished piece on the same day.
(And look at my ring, which went through a total transformation..haha. Clumsy hands totally can do it! The teacher is great at giving praise, so kind, the best)
That was Robenta, the Seongsu ring workshop I'd recommend for anniversary dates, making friendship rings, and couples, family and friends who want to make a special memory💍✨
