Daegu beef grill Friday date: flower rib and cold noodles, Gogi 9dan
In short
Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch is a charcoal-grill beef restaurant in Chimsan-dong, Buk-gu, Daegu. Why Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch for a Friday night dinner
For our Friday evening beef craving, we came to Gogi 9dan (고기9단), a beef restaurant in Chimsan-dong, Buk-gu, Daegu. After a five-day work week, we decided to head out for a nice dinner to welcome the weekend. I wanted beef, haha. When I told my husband "beef," he said, "If it's beef, it's Gogi 9dan, of course!!" hahaha. Yes, it's the Buk-gu, Daegu beef place we love to visit.

The meat at Gogi 9dan is really good! It's one of Daegu's top beef spots, with delicious meat and tasty side dishes too, so after one visit we became regulars.

Gogi 9dan in Chimsan-dong... In baduk (Go), 9-dan means a master level, and Gogi 9dan is a place where you can taste the master level of beef.

Parking and hours at Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch
The building is built on pilotis, so the ground floor is the parking lot, and you climb the stairs to the restaurant on the second floor. The lot extends to the back of the building, so it's very spacious.
- Hours: 11:00–21:50
- Break time: 15:00–17:00
- Last order: 21:00

It turns out the owners have worked in the restaurant business for 30 years, and everything from ingredients to hygiene is handled really well. Above all, they serve delicious meat.
At the entrance, they pack up your ordered meat for you, picking out only the good cuts. The quality of the raw meat itself is excellent, haha. That's why it's worth coming here.

What are the atmosphere and seating like at Gogi 9dan?
The interior of Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch is upscale and tidy enough to bring your parents. When you walk in, a staff member shows you to your seat. Great service!! ha
The tables are separated by lattice partitions, so it's not a completely open space and feels somewhat private.

Gogi 9dan menu: full and half plates, and the lunch special
Gogi 9dan sells a variety of cuts, including raw galbi (short rib), anchangsal, kkotgalbi, emperor galbisal, seokcheong galbi and marinated galbi, and you can order a full plate or a half plate. There's also a lunch special. They open at 11, and plenty of guests come for the lunch special. But I came for dinner, so I ordered the 9dan Set as my meal.

Okay with kids? The glass-walled play room
Gogi 9dan has a play room too. If you have kids, you'll like it. The table we sat at was separated from the play room by a glass wall, so you can eat while watching the kids play. Pretty great for coming with family, right?

Generous side dishes, and a plate of japchae this time
What I love every time I come to Gogi 9dan is that the side dishes are generous and every one of them is delicious. There's so much that I can't finish it all, and the sides alone could fill you up. This time the japchae (glass noodle stir-fry) was so good that I cleared a whole plate. Of course they'd refill it, but then I'd have no room for the meat... so I held back.

Half plates of anchangsal and kkotgalbi, grilled over charcoal by my husband
This time at Gogi 9dan, we ordered half plates each of anchangsal and kkotgalbi.

Look at that marbling on the kkotgalbi, wow, right? hahaha It comes topped with nuruk salt (salt made with fermented grain starter), so it's lightly seasoned. You can dip it in salt after grilling or just eat it as is, both are delicious. ^^

We grill it over charcoal. Meat grilled by my husband~~ hahaha I'm actually the better griller, but today I'm leaving it to him, ha. You only get better by grilling more, after all.

The meat my husband grilled for me~ hahaha Aww~ so yummy~~~ His grilling skills have improved a lot~^^ Thumbs up~~ 100 points~~ ^^

What's in the ₩17,000 9dan Set at Gogi 9dan?
The 9dan Set at Gogi 9dan is a meal menu where you get yukhoe (seasoned raw beef), jjolmyeon (chewy spicy cold noodles), pork kimchi stew and wasabi sushi, all for ₩17,000. After eating a good amount of meat, we ordered the 9dan Set as our meal. I totally recommend it~

The value is really great: yukhoe, jjolmyeon, pork kimchi stew and wasabi sushi, all for just ₩17,000. The pork looks really fresh, and there's a lot of it.

I put wasabi on the sushi and top it with a piece of beef. That makes beef sushi, and wow~~ so tasty~~^^

Extra bibim naengmyeon, turned into mul bibim naengmyeon with broth
The pork kimchi stew and yukhoe are really good too, hahaha. My husband was going to eat the jjolmyeon, so I ordered bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) as an extra.

The bibim naengmyeon comes with broth on the side, so partway through I poured it in and ate it as mul bibim naengmyeon (spicy noodles in broth), hahaha. I was really full and happy today~ Gogi 9dan, a Buk-gu, Daegu favorite! The beef is superb, and with the 9dan Set it's great value too.

Dessert at Gogi 9dan: coffee and plum tea
After the meal at Gogi 9dan, you can have coffee or plum tea for dessert. Today I skipped the americano and had plain mix coffee, and how is it this good? How do they make it? haha The iced coffee was seriously delicious~ hahaha
You know that saying going around these days? Happiness is time wasted with someone you love~ hahaha Time spent eating good food with a loved one feels like happiness too~ When you crave beef, I recommend Gogi 9dan in Buk-gu, Daegu~
