A Seomyeon griddle bar for three: the butter scallop set

Three of us went to Cheolpaneun Pinggyego in Seomyeon. We ordered the butter scallop set! The table has its own griddle, so you get a close-up view of the scallops, shrimp and all the sides cooking.
It's a different charm from having finished food arrive on one plate. Ingredients go onto the griddle one by one and take on a golden color, and that whole process becomes part of the meal at this Seomyeon griddle bar.

How do you get to Cheolpaneun Pinggyego from Seomyeon Station?
The Busan main branch of Cheolpaneun Pinggyego is at 35 Dongcheon-ro 85beon-gil, Busanjin-gu, Busan, on the 1st floor. According to the shop's directions, it's about 124 m from Seomyeon Station Exit 6. Turn into the Hana Bank alley and keep going straight, and you'll find it across from Jigu Arcade.
Out front, the Cheolpaneun Pinggyego sign and a note saying it's a griddle bar (철판요리주점) stood out. There's also a menu board with food photos at the entrance, so you can see what they serve before going in.
There's no dedicated parking lot, so if you come by car you'll need to use a nearby car park.
Seating and atmosphere at Cheolpaneun Pinggyego
The interior mixes white walls, wooden tables and wooden partitions. A square griddle sits in the middle of each table, so the moment you sit down you can tell this is a griddle specialist.
There were partitioned seats and a long table for bigger groups too. Whether you come as a pair or with friends like we did, there's a good variety of seating.
There are also coat hangers on the wall. In coat season, a small convenience like that is very welcome. Near the register, a lucky cat (maneki-neko) and Shin-chan decorations added something cute to look at.

What's on the menu at Cheolpaneun Pinggyego?
You order on a tablet at the table. You can pick dishes while looking at photos and prices, and you can also check your order history.
Besides butter scallops, the menu has monjayaki, spicy griddled seafood, butter shrimp and crab, spicy cheese dakgalbi (stir-fried chicken) and more. There's also okonomiyaki (savory pancake) and yakisoba (fried noodles), plus soups, fried rice and desserts.
It's built around griddle dishes, with other things you can add depending on your taste.

Butter scallop set price and contents: how much for 3 people?
The butter scallop set was listed at ₩44,900 when we visited. It came with butter-grilled scallops, corn cheese and 2 Suntory draft beers.
There were three of us, so on top of the 2 beers in the set we added 1 Hanmac draft beer separately. The Hanmac was ₩4,500, and the total shown on the ordering screen was ₩49,400.
The drinks included in the set and the ones you add are listed separately, so keep that in mind when you choose.

What's in the butter scallop set: scallops, shrimp and plenty of sides
The ingredients came out on a wooden board. Round, neatly prepared scallops were spread out generously, with shrimp placed on top.
Another board held sides like potatoes, mushrooms and corn, along with butter. It isn't just the main ingredients; I liked that you put lots of things on the griddle together.
It was fun to take photos of both the neatly arranged ingredients before cooking and the spread-out griddle.
Scallops turning golden on the griddle
We laid the corn cheese in a long strip along the edge of the griddle, spread butter in the middle, then put scallops, potatoes, shrimp and other ingredients on to grill. With the wide griddle filled up, the table looked even more abundant.
The scallops, pale at first, picked up a golden sear from the butter and heat. The shrimp changed color as they cooked, and we grilled the sides in turn.
When I picked up a scallop and looked closely, the sear on the surface was clear. There was a separate sauce to dip in, and you could mix up combinations by eating it with other ingredients.

The set's corn cheese and grilled corn
We also cooked the corn cheese from the set on the griddle. The cheese melted between the corn kernels, making a warm side right next to the main dish.
The corn served with the scallops looked different from the kernel-style corn cheese. It picked up golden patches as it grilled, and looked appetizing in photos too.
The sight of cheese melted over potatoes also caught my eye. You can alternate between the scallops, shrimp and sides, so even on a single griddle there were lots of combinations to enjoy.

How was Cheolpaneun Pinggyego as a spot for three in Seomyeon?
This visit was three of us enjoying the butter scallop set with the griddle in the middle. Chatting while watching the food cook is part of the fun of a griddle restaurant.
It's close to Seomyeon Station and has tabletop griddles and a variety of set menus, so it's a good one to keep in mind when you're looking for a place to meet up in Seomyeon.
