Jung-gu, Daegu dog café for a timid pup: quiet 2F mat zone, Daenghaus
In short
Daenghaus&Bingsuking is a dog-friendly café in Jung-gu, Daegu, between Jungangno Station and Banwoldang Station, with a café, terrace and dog pool on the 1st floor, a mat play zone on the 2nd floor, and a dog kindergarten and rooftop on the 3rd floor. On a trip to Daegu, the writer brought Gucci, a timid dog, to play ball in the quiet 2nd-floor mat zone and ate injeolmi red bean bingsu (shaved ice with roasted soybean rice cake) served with condensed milk and Jolly Pong cereal on the side. Daenghaus&Bingsuking lets dogs that fear other dogs play in comfort, and the writer would return on the next visit to Daegu.

Today I'm introducing Daenghaus&Bingsuking (댕하우스&빙수킹), a dog-friendly café in Daegu that I visited with Gucci during our Daegu trip. There are plenty of cafés you can visit with a dog, but this one has really well-prepared spaces for dogs, and I was happy the whole time we were there. From the 1st-floor café to the 2nd-floor mat play zone and the 3rd-floor rooftop, there's so much variety that I caught myself wishing we had a place like this near home. Let me walk you through each floor and the handy tips worth knowing before you go.
What are the opening hours of Daenghaus&Bingsuking?
The café is open daily from 11:00 to 22:00, and the dog kindergarten is open daily from 08:00 to 20:00.
Where do you park at Daenghaus&Bingsuking?
Daenghaus&Bingsuking has no parking of its own, so if you drive, it's best to use the Yangnyeongsi West Gate public parking lot right in front. I heard it's paid until 18:00 on weekdays and free on weekends and holidays.

How to get to Daenghaus&Bingsuking
Daenghaus&Bingsuking is in Jung-gu, Daegu, roughly halfway between Jungangno Station and Banwoldang Station.

It sits right behind the Yangnyeongsi West Gate public parking lot, so if you park there it's easy to find.

Follow the alley inward and you'll spot a golden-brown gate.
When we got to the entrance, Gucci must have smelled other dogs inside, because he kept tugging at me to hurry up and go in. Seeing him so excited already, I got excited too.
Floor guide and house rules at Daenghaus&Bingsuking
The building is split into the 1st floor (café, dog pool, grooming salon), the 2nd floor (playground, hotel, restroom) and the 3rd floor (dog kindergarten, rooftop). Before looking around, I checked out what kind of place it is.

- 1F: café, dog pool, grooming salon
- 2F: playground, hotel, restroom
- 3F: dog kindergarten, rooftop
The house rules are posted near the entrance, so it's worth reading them before you go in.

For inquiries about dog hotel stays, kindergarten and grooming, you can use the contact number on the notice. Hotel prices are listed too, so it looks like a decent option if you need to leave your dog for a trip or a busy day.
What is the 1st-floor dog café like inside?
The 1st floor is the dog-friendly café area, and you swap into slippers at the shoe rack before going in. There's a deodorizer and a lint roller on one side, so tidy up any fur or dust on your clothes before you leave.
Past the counter, you reach the café area where dogs are allowed. The 1st-floor café can also be used by guests who didn't bring a dog.
There are sofas, tables and other spots where you can relax comfortably with your dog, so it was nice for taking our time. I liked how thoughtfully it's set up so owners can settle in comfortably too.
On one side there's a photo zone themed as a "Mungmung Travel Agency" (a dog travel agency). It's cutely decorated and perfect for a special souvenir photo with your dog.
There were also lots of supplies, from drinking water for dogs to blankets and toys. Gucci ran straight to the toys as soon as we walked in. There's plenty to keep dogs from getting bored.
Is the 1st-floor terrace and dog pool open in October?

Inside the 1st-floor café there's an outdoor terrace with artificial turf and a dog pool, but the dog pool is closed for the off-season from October.

Go through the safety gate and you'll find green artificial turf, just right for dogs to run around.
Best of all, I was surprised there's even a dog pool! Being able to splash around, not just hang out in a café with your dog, felt special.

Just note that the pool is closed for the off-season from October, so if you're coming mainly for dog swimming, keep that in mind.

The weather was lovely that day, so lots of guests were relaxing on the outdoor terrace.

There was also a spot on one side for taking photos of your dog.

I couldn't just walk past it, so we took a souvenir photo of Gucci too. Oh my gosh, isn't our Gucci just so cute? We got a proper best-shot of his life.
Next to the pool there's also a space for washing dogs and drying their fur after swimming. It's not only a pool; the space is set up so you can finish up after playing in the water, which I liked.
Where are the 2nd-floor stairs?
The stairs to the 2nd floor appear when you slide aside the partition wall next to the 1st-floor counter. I couldn't see the stairs at first and searched for ages, so I hope everyone reads this and gets up there easily.
Go up the stairs and the restroom is next to the sofa. It's spacious and well kept, which I appreciated.

The 2nd floor also had dog toys, a mop and other necessities well stocked.
Was the 2nd-floor mat zone comfortable for a timid dog?
Inside the safety gate, the 2nd floor opens into a wide mat play zone, which was great for playing quietly with a timid dog when few guests were around. I loved how roomy it is for dogs to run around comfortably.
Gucci is a timid dog who prefers places without other dogs, and it just so happened that hardly anyone was on the 2nd floor?! So I moved up there to spend a more relaxed time with him.
The 2nd floor also had a nice seating area for resting,

and from the window side you could look down on the 1st-floor terrace. The central passage connects the 1st and 2nd floors, so you can look down to the floor below.
Gucci had a blast on the 2nd floor, playing fetch and posing for photos.

It was even better that Gucci, who is usually a little scared of other dogs, could play comfortably here. If there were a place like this near our house, I'd honestly bring him every single day.
Can café guests go to the 3rd-floor rooftop?
The 3rd floor is for dogs attending the kindergarten, so I heard access for café customers is restricted. A notice about this is posted on the stairs up to the 3rd floor.
The notice mentioned a rooftop too, but I didn't look around in case kindergarten dogs were using it. It's worth checking whether you can go up to the rooftop.
Menu and how to order at Daenghaus&Bingsuking

You can check the menu at the 1st-floor counter, and you order at the kiosk next to the counter.

Besides coffee and drinks, there are desserts like cake slices and bread, so it's good for a quick snack when you get peckish.

Just use the kiosk next to the counter to order.

They also sell a gentle, low-irritation soap made for pets. If you've worried about your dog's skin, you could check the product info and pick one up.
How do the injeolmi red bean bingsu taste, and how big is it?

The injeolmi red bean bingsu (shaved milk ice with rice cake and red bean) is finely shaved milk ice topped with red beans, ice cream, roasted soybean powder, injeolmi (chewy rice cake) and almonds, with condensed milk and Jolly Pong (chocolate-coated puffed rice cereal) served separately. I was surprised by how big it was the moment it came out.
Red beans, ice cream, nutty soybean powder, injeolmi and even almonds were generously piled onto the finely shaved milk ice. They also gave us condensed milk and Jolly Pong on the side, and I liked being able to add them to taste. With all those sweet, nutty toppings and a generous portion, it was a great snack for when you're peckish.

It's a nice pick when you've been playing at the café with your dog and a sweet dessert starts calling.
One-line review
We visited Daenghaus&Bingsuking with Gucci during our Daegu trip, and from the play spaces for dogs to the tasty dessert, both owner and dog had a satisfying time. If you're looking for a dog-friendly café or a dog pool in Daegu, it's worth a visit. I was especially happy that Gucci could play so comfortably, and I plan to come back next time we visit Daegu.
