Today I visited Slow But Barrel Daegu, a big café in Daegu. It happened to be decorated for Halloween, and it felt like walking into an art museum, so just looking around was a lot of fun. Best of all, I could use both the indoor space and the outdoor areas with my dog. Parking is available too, so it was an easy visit! Let me show you its charms one by one.
Slow But Barrel Daegu opening hours and parking
Slow But Barrel Daegu is open daily from 10:30 to 22:00, with last order at 21:30. If you come by car, there's a dedicated parking lot, so no worries. 🚗🚗🚗
The garden path and museum-like exterior
The way to the entrance was already lovely. You walk along a pretty garden path to reach the café door, and the path itself is so nicely done that it'd be great for a walk with a dog or a stroll with kids.
I also took a photo of the café building from behind the parking lot. The building itself is stylish and has a great atmosphere.

It felt like a museum or an art gallery, so I was excited before I even went in.

There was also a notice for a "Very Good" food hygiene grade. What I liked most was that it's a YES kids zone and also allows pets. Families with children and families with dogs can all gather comfortably here, which I found very appealing.
Halloween interiors and varied seating
Inside Slow But Barrel Daegu, spaces with different concepts caught my eye everywhere. It was prettily decorated for Halloween, and since the interior concept seems to change with each season, I bet every visit feels different.
The seating is varied too. There are comfy sofa seats and floor-seating tables. Each area has a slightly different interior and mood, so picking a seat you like is part of the fun. Being able to choose the atmosphere you want is one of Slow But Barrel Daegu's charms!

An open kitchen where you can watch the bread being made
On one side there's a coffee-brewing area, and next to it you can even watch the bread being made.

It's an open kitchen, so you can see drinks being prepared and bakery items being made, which I found fascinating. Because the kitchen is open, you can also see how hygienically it's kept, which made me trust it even more.
There's also a self-service corner with syrup, water, straws and other essentials.

And if you walk in between the bread-making areas, there's a path leading to the restrooms.

The more I looked around inside, the more I noticed how carefully each space was done, and exploring was a lot of fun. It's more than a place to have coffee and dessert; it's great for wandering around and taking photos.
A skull-decorated space, a pyramid garden and a sand playground
Slow But Barrel Daegu even has a space where you can really feel the Halloween mood! It's a unique area that feels half indoor, half outdoor, and with a huge skull decoration added, it was amazing. I've been to lots of cafés, but it's been a while since I saw one commit to a concept this well, and I was impressed.
The garden is stylishly done too. There's a unique pyramid-shaped structure that gives it a mysterious feel.

On a warm day, it'd be perfect to sit outside with a cup of coffee. It has a different kind of relaxed feel from indoors. There's also a sand playground for kids on one side, so I thought it's a good place for families too.
How does the pet zone at Slow But Barrel Daegu work?
At Slow But Barrel Daegu, you can use the indoor pet area and the outdoor terrace connected to it with your dog, but eating food is only allowed in the indoor pet zone. The pet area is straight back from the entrance. When you open the automatic door, you'll first see a banner with the pet rules. Please read it carefully.
You can use the indoor pet area and the outdoor terrace that flows naturally out of it. You can spend time indoors with your dog, and enjoy the fresh air outside when the weather's nice.

But remember: food is only allowed in the indoor pet zone!

You can use the outdoor space too, but when you eat, you need to use the indoor pet zone, so keep that in mind.

I took a seat in the indoor pet zone and also enjoyed a walk on the outdoor terrace. Gucci seemed to like the outdoor space with flowers and a garden, and we had a relaxed time walking together.
Bakery and dessert display

Slow But Barrel Daegu has a wide variety of bakery items and desserts, so I captured them one by one in photos.
The menu and farm fruit notice
The menu at Slow But Barrel Daegu is at the counter. There's coffee, non-coffee drinks and smoothies, so you can pick whatever suits your taste.

A notice said the apricots and peaches in particular come from the café's own farm, grown and harvested by them, and I was impressed that they care about ingredients. They also said that if you join an event, you can get a financier or madeleine as a gift, so if you're visiting, check the event details.

Gucci was excited all day, as if she loved the café. Seeing her happily look around was so cute 💛
How are the salt bread and pain au chocolat at Slow But Barrel Daegu?
I ordered salt bread and a pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant-style pastry) with coffee at Slow But Barrel Daegu, and the salt bread in particular was really good. I was a little peckish, so I ordered bakery items and coffee, and the ones I picked that day were the salt bread and the pain au chocolat.
When you go around bakery cafés, finding a place that does salt bread well is surprisingly hard. This one suited my bread-lover taste perfectly, so I had to give it credit. If I had to pick just one bread, I'd choose the salt bread without hesitation.
I tried the pain au chocolat too. The bread was soft and easy to eat, and with chocolate inside at the bottom, it had a sweet taste. It went well with coffee.
Savory salt bread, sweet pain au chocolat, and coffee on top!! Getting two breads with different tastes made it a very satisfying bakery time. Enjoying a pretty space and tasting good bakery items at a big Daegu café was so satisfying.
One-line verdict
Slow But Barrel Daegu was satisfying in every way, from the space to the taste! It's a place I'll think of again whenever I want to spend relaxed time in a pretty space.
Next time I visit Daegu, I want to stop by again with Gucci and try other bakery items. If you're looking for a bakery café in Daegu where you can enjoy good bread and coffee together, I recommend Slow But Barrel Daegu.
