Busy weekend galbi house in Yeonsan, Busan: 8 servings at Baekyang
In short
Baekyang Sutbul Galbi Yeonsan (백양숯불갈비 연산점) is a charcoal-grilled galbi (marinated ribs) restaurant on a main-road corner in front of Yeonil Market in Yeonsan-dong, Yeonje-gu, Busan. Around 6 p.m. on a weekend, with almost no empty seats, a family shared 8 servings of signature marinated galbi, a yangpuni kimchi stew (kimchi stew in a large brass bowl) and ₩500 mannim rice, with the galbi priced at ₩3,300 per 100g. For the price, Baekyang Sutbul Galbi Yeonsan delivers on portions, flavor and friendly service, and it is a Yeonsan-dong barbecue spot worth returning to.

When you eat out these days, it's hard to give up either price or taste, right? Baekyang Sutbul Galbi (백양숯불갈비), the Yeonsan-dong restaurant I visited this time, let me eat plenty at a price that didn't hurt, and I was happy with it.

I went around 6 p.m. on a weekend and it was already packed with customers. Let me tell you how I ate my fill, from marinated galbi to pot kimchi stew.
Where is Baekyang Sutbul Galbi Yeonsan?
Baekyang Sutbul Galbi Yeonsan (백양숯불갈비 연산점) sits on a main-road corner in front of Yeonil Market in Yeonsan-dong. Being on a corner, it wasn't hard to find even on my first visit.

The inside was spacious and clean, and there's a self-serve bar, so I could easily grab whatever side dishes I needed.

I arrived around 6 p.m. on a weekend and there were barely any empty seats. You can tell this is a place people flock to at mealtimes.
How were the taste and portions of the ₩3,300 per 100g marinated galbi?
The first thing that caught my eye on the sign out front of Baekyang Sutbul Galbi Yeonsan was the price: marinated galbi at ₩3,300 per 100g.

Eating out at a meat restaurant these days costs a fortune, but at this price you can eat without worrying about the bill.

We ordered 6 servings of the jinjja yangnyeom galbi (진짜양념갈비, "real marinated galbi") first, and it was so good that we added 2 more. We also had a pot kimchi stew, 2 bowls of mannim rice and a cold beer.

The marinated galbi at Baekyang had a nicely blended sweet marinade and tender meat that was easy to eat. My child ate it happily too, so I thought it would work well for a family meal.

The reasonable price didn't mean skimpy portions. I kept eating happily and, before I knew it, ordered more.
What's in the yangpuni kimchi stew?
The yangpuni kimchi jjigae (양푼이 김치찌개, kimchi stew served in a big metal pot) at Baekyang is generous with the meat, and it comes with ramen noodles included as standard. We ordered it with the galbi, and it was a memorable dish.
The ramen noodles made it feel even more filling, and the spicy broth with noodles went well with the meat.

It's a good order when you're eating meat and start craving something warm and soupy. I'd recommend it if meat alone feels like not enough or you want to finish the meal on a hearty note.
Mannim rice for ₩500 and meoseum rice: what's the difference?

The mannim bap (마님밥, "madam's rice") at Baekyang is ₩500 and about the size of a regular bowl of rice, so it was easy to add without a second thought. The meoseum bap (머슴밥, "farmhand's rice"), on the other hand, is reportedly piled up like a mountain, just like the name suggests.
The rice menu was fun, too. If you like big portions, the meoseum rice is worth a look. Eating the meat and kimchi stew together made rice a great side.

They were also running a Naver photo review event. Write a review and you can get a pot kimchi stew or a drink, they said.
How were the service and atmosphere?

I liked the food at Baekyang Sutbul Galbi Yeonsan, but the owner was also so friendly that I was in a good mood the whole meal.

With the self-serve bar I could easily fetch the side dishes I needed, and the place was spacious and clean, so it was fine for a family meal.

When looking for a meat restaurant in a market area or busy district, I weigh price, portions and taste, and Baekyang satisfied me on all of them.
Overall verdict on Baekyang Sutbul Galbi Yeonsan

I went in having resolved to diet, but after 8 servings of marinated galbi plus kimchi stew and rice, I went home having overeaten. Haha.

My child ate the tender, sweet marinated galbi well, and I loved getting the meaty kimchi stew and a generous bowl of rice along with it.

Tasty food at a reasonable price, plus a friendly owner, made it even more satisfying.

If you're looking for a good Yeonsan-dong restaurant or a good-value meat place in Yeonsan, give Baekyang Sutbul Galbi Yeonsan a try. It's a place I'd happily come back to the next time I crave marinated galbi.
