Busan milmyeon restaurant revisited with mom: Seomyeon Milmyeon

In short

Seomyeon Milmyeon is a milmyeon (cold wheat noodle) restaurant in Eos Plaza on Seojeon-ro in Busanjin, Busan, about a 5-minute walk from Exit 8 of Seomyeon Station. The writer returned after several years with her mom and shared mul-milmyeon (noodles in cold broth), bibim-milmyeon (spicy mixed noodles) and mandu (dumplings), drinking the 72-hour beef bone broth as-is, without vinegar. With free parking and no break time, Seomyeon Milmyeon is an easy stop at any hour during a Busan trip.

There's a food that comes to mind as the weather gets hotter — cool, refreshing milmyeon. Today I want to introduce a Seomyeon restaurant I visited a few years ago and loved so much that I've kept recommending it to friends ever since: Seomyeon Milmyeon, a place famous for Busan-style milmyeon.

This summer I ended up going back again, and it confirmed what I always say: "A good restaurant doesn't change."

Menu and ordering guide at Seomyeon Milmyeon

Reservations aren't possible, so you just line up in order of arrival. You order at the kiosk! Dongbaekjeon isn't accepted, but Kakao Pay is. Ask staff if you need to pay by cash!

Cooking starts the moment you order, and they say they use broth simmered from bones for 72 hours along with fresh ingredients sourced daily from Bujeon Market. With no break time, it's also convenient if you show up at an awkward hour for meals.

Parking is also available, so it wasn't a hassle even coming by car.

A revisit after a few years — does it still taste the same?

To be honest, I was so satisfied after visiting this place before that I kept recommending it to people around me.

Countless celebrities have visited and various media have covered this place, so it's a reliable spot. I used to say confidently, "You have to go here if you visit Busan," and I found myself back again this summer.

Sometimes a revisit isn't quite as good as before, but Seomyeon Milmyeon was still the same. "Yep, this is the place," I couldn't help but say. Truly a restaurant that keeps its history alive!

✔ Mul-milmyeon x1 ✔ Bibim-milmyeon x1 ✔ Mandu x1

We ordered all three and shared them.

Mul-milmyeon ₩10,000 — 72-hour bone broth enjoyed without vinegar

My favorite menu item here is, without a doubt, mul-milmyeon.

The broth is really cool and refreshing yet deep, not too strong, with a flavor that keeps you coming back for another spoonful. They say it's made from bones simmered for 72 hours, and you could definitely feel that depth in the broth. I was so into enjoying the broth as is that I skipped the vinegar this time, but if you like it tangy, go ahead and add some!

And the noodles here were still really good too. There's no hint of flour smell at all, and the chewy, springy texture is fully alive. After one bite, you just want to keep eating.

Above all, the toppings were piled on generously, which made the whole bowl really satisfying. There was more meat than I expected, too, so I could enjoy it fully right to the last bite. It's no wonder people call this a top milmyeon restaurant in Busan.

Bibim-milmyeon ₩10,000 — mom said this one was even better

My mom, who came with me, actually said she liked the bibim-milmyeon even more.

She said the sauce wasn't just spicy — the sweet-and-tangy balance was so good that she kept reaching for more bites. Oh, and you should add vinegar and mustard to your own taste! The noodles and sauce blended really well, and eating it together with the toppings gave a nice variety of textures, which made it very satisfying.

Both the mul-milmyeon camp and the bibim-milmyeon camp were so well made that it was hard to pick a winner. So if you're visiting with several people, I'd recommend ordering one of each and sharing.

The ₩7,500 mandu is not just a side dish

A plate of mandu dumplings at Seomyeon Milmyeon

At a milmyeon restaurant, it's easy to assume the mandu (dumplings) are just a side, but I really recommend ordering these. The dumpling wrapper is truly chewy.

A dumpling cut in half showing the chewy wrapper

Bite in and the filling is moist while the wrapper is nice and chewy, pairing really well with the milmyeon. Taking a bite of cool milmyeon followed by a warm dumpling was a really great combination.

A friend who didn't like milmyeon, reacting

What stood out most was the reaction of a friend who came along last time. She used to say she didn't get why people ate milmyeon because of the flour smell, but after eating this milmyeon, she said, "Now I finally get why people love milmyeon."

Hearing that made me quietly proud. Owner of Seomyeon Milmyeon, are you seeing this? Make me your honorary ambassador!

There's nothing better than introducing a favorite restaurant and seeing someone genuinely enjoy it. So even now, whenever someone says they're planning a trip to Busan, this is one of the first places I recommend. If you're in Busan, it's milmyeon time.

Wrap-up — four things Seomyeon Milmyeon got right

A table set with mul-milmyeon, bibim-milmyeon, and mandu together

What I liked most was that the taste still hadn't changed.

✔️ Deep, refreshing broth ✔ Chewy noodles with no flour smell ✔ Generous toppings and meat ✔ Chewy dumplings

These four things were especially satisfying. If you're craving a cool meal in summer, I'd recommend this as a Seomyeon restaurant. If you're planning a trip to Busan, try visiting Seomyeon Milmyeon, a top spot for Busan milmyeon. And if you're looking for somewhere to eat in Seomyeon, I confidently recommend this as a Seomyeon Station restaurant.
