Where is Chamsae Bori Sikppang, Bucheon main branch?

I visited Chamsae Bori Sikppang, Bucheon main branch (참새보리식빵 부천본점) because I was curious about a shop specializing in loaf bread. It is near Simgok Overpass Intersection, about a five-minute walk from Exit 2 of Bucheon Station. Two yellow scooters parked in front made it easy to spot.

There was a freestanding sign outside introducing the shop's broadcast awards and evaluations from master bakers. Inside, I could smell bread baking.

What bread can you find at the shop?

A poster on one wall outlined the shop's baking philosophy and five promises. It also explained its ingredients and fermentation methods.

Even on a weekday, customers kept coming in to take bread away, while staff in yellow hats greeted them at the counter. Warm loaves were neatly stacked on the display shelves.

According to the shop, it uses Korean eco-friendly chewy barley, New Zealand grass-fed butter, high-calcium milk, eggs, and a natural starter fermented in-house.

There was also a notice saying that a Jjaekbori eco-bag with a sparrow character could be received through coupon stamps. I received three coupons that day.

Could I sample the bread before choosing?

When I visited, I could sample bread spread with the mascarpone milk cream sold at the shop. I tasted it, liked it, and chose one. I took home three loaves: plain chewy barley, grain chewy barley, and rye chewy barley.

How did the three takeout chewy barley loaves differ?

Was the plain chewy barley loaf good on its own?

The plain chewy barley loaf stood out for its nutty barley flavor and moist texture that pulled apart in strands. Its mild flavor came through more as I chewed, and it was good even without jam.

What was the texture of the grain chewy barley loaf like?

The grain chewy barley loaf had grains throughout the bread. It was crunchy and nutty, with the most noticeable grain-chewing texture of the three.

Was the rye chewy barley loaf dry?

The rye chewy barley loaf had rye's deep, rich aroma without being dry or tough. It was soft and chewy, and I thought it would make a good breakfast with warm milk or an Americano.

What are the purchasing method and visiting hours?

Unfortunately, delivery orders were unavailable when I visited, so I had to buy directly at the shop. It opens at 10 a.m., when the shop indicated that the selection of freshly baked bread is at its fullest.

According to the original post, the regular days off are every Monday and Thursday. The shop may close early once all bread has sold out.
