Weekend date with no wait at Sinnonhyeon gyukatsu restaurant Ichigyu

I had a weekend get-together and spent ages deciding where to go. Then I got a huge craving for good Japanese food, so I carefully researched a place famous as a Sinnonhyeon must-visit and headed over. I was nervous there might be a wait, but thankfully we got in with no waiting at all.

Where Ichigyu Gangnam Sinnonhyeon Branch is, and its hours

Ichigyu Gangnam Sinnonhyeon Branch is close to Exit 4 of Sinnonhyeon Station, so getting there was really convenient. It's on the 2nd floor across from Gusamyuk, so it stood out and we didn't get lost.

The exterior already had that clean, authentic Japanese feel, which got my expectations up.

Is the Ichigyu dining room good for a date?

Once inside, the place was way bigger and more pleasant than I expected.

The calm wood-tone interior had generous space between tables too. Quiet and cozy — a perfect spot for a Sinnonhyeon date.

Ordering by tablet and what is on the Ichigyu menu

We sat down and easily finished ordering by tapping through the tablet. The menu descriptions and photos were clear, so it was easy to pick according to our taste. The staff were friendly and helpful too, which put me in a good mood from the start of the meal.

A quick scan of the menu shows a range of Japanese dishes, from the signature sirloin gyukatsu to the steki set and hamburg omurice. Prices aren't intimidating either, so it's great for ordering several to share.

There's a fun ritual of placing each piece on the heated brazier and grilling it yourself, sizzle by sizzle.

Inside the crispy breading, the sirloin was so tender it practically melted in my mouth.

Spread on some Isigny butter, grill it gently, and one bite made me let out a wow — such a rich, savory flavor.

The steki set and a Kirin draft beer

The steki set also had truly excellent meat quality — genuinely impressive.

No gamey smell at all — clean-tasting, with a savory juiciness that spreads out the more you chew.

Add a cold glass of Kirin draft beer on top and all the tiredness just melts away haha.

How the beef balances with the white rice

The combination with the white rice served alongside the meat had really great overall balance.

The plainness of the rice cleanly cuts through the richness of the meat, so with a piece of meat on top of the rice, I never got tired of it until the very last bite — cleared the whole bowl, amazing!

Is Ichigyu worth recommending in Sinnonhyeon?

Clean flavors, generous portions, and a stylish atmosphere — all three line up perfectly. Among Sinnonhyeon restaurants, it's hard to think of another place that nails both quality and value this well.

It's great for a cozy date with someone you love, or a get-together with friends,

and it's also perfect for a family dinner, so I really recommend visiting once.

Among the places I've been to recently, this meal ranks among the most satisfying. Next time I'm definitely coming back to try the other single dishes too! How about a delicious meal today, everyone? Haha.
