Bakery café with mountain views in Ulju, Ulsan: MUG
In short
MUG is a large bakery café in Sangbuk-myeon, Ulju, Ulsan, where I had two kinds of cinnamon rolls and drinks while looking out at the Yeongnam Alps. The apple compote texture and tangy lemon glaze stood out, but window seats are competitive and breads can sell out in the afternoon.

I visited MUG (카페 먹) in Sangbuk-myeon, Ulju-gun, Ulsan, to eat bread while taking in the Yeongnam Alps scenery. It was a large bakery café, and the mountains and pond visible through the floor-to-ceiling windows stayed with me.

What did I choose, and how much did it cost?
Among the many breads, I chose the apple cinnamon roll and lemon cinnamon roll. I ordered an iced Americano and a MUG Lemon Smoothie to go with them.
- Apple cinnamon roll ₩6,800
- Lemon cinnamon roll ₩6,800
- Iced Americano ₩5,500
- MUG Lemon Smoothie ₩7,500

What was the apple cinnamon roll like?
The apple cinnamon roll is topped with apple compote, a cinnamon roll, and apple jam on sliced bread. The outside was crisp and the inside moist when I cut it with a knife. Apple compote was tucked between the layers of rolled bread too, giving it a pleasant texture to chew.

It was not overly sweet for me, and the cinnamon aroma paired well with the fresh tartness of the apple.
Did the Americano go well with the roll dessert?
The iced Americano had a rich, nutty quality reminiscent of dark chocolate rather than a murky taste or excessive acidity. It was good to sip alongside the roll with its sweet glaze.

How were the lemon cinnamon roll and MUG Lemon Smoothie?
The lemon cinnamon roll was topped with lemon glaze. Its bright lemon acidity came through alongside buttery bread and cinnamon aromas.

The MUG Lemon Smoothie stood out for its black-and-white color scheme. It was clean and refreshing with lemon brightness, so it went well with the bread.

What is the pond and indoor mountain-view atmosphere like?
The exterior used black and gray tones. Silver ball objects floated in the pond in front of the building, creating an unusual scene.

When I entered through the main door, the artwork on display also made it feel a little like entering an art gallery.

The interior had a high ceiling and full-height glass windows, opening onto a broad view of green mountains. I enjoyed sitting down to rest and look out at them.

However, seats by the floor-to-ceiling windows are popular and not easy to get. They tend to fill up around weekend lunchtime, so I recommend arriving around opening time if you want a window seat.
Can I visit with a dog?
There is an outdoor terrace where you can stay in the fresh air. Pets are allowed only at the outdoor terrace seats, not indoors, and basic etiquette such as keeping them on a leash is required.

What about parking and opening hours?
There is a large dedicated parking lot directly in front of the café building. Café guests can park free of charge without a separate time limit.

The address is 90 Hyangsan Dagae-ro, Sangbuk-myeon, Ulju-gun, Ulsan, South Korea. The hours listed in the original post are 10:00–20:00, with no regular closing day.
When should I go for the widest bread selection?
Along with coffee, a range of other drinks is available, so I thought it would work well for families visiting together and choosing individually.

The breads are made that day and stocked in the display case around opening time. Once the prepared breads sell out, there are no more to choose from, and many spaces in the case may be empty in the afternoon. I recommend visiting before lunchtime if you want to choose several varieties.

My time eating cinnamon rolls while enjoying the pond and mountain views at MUG stayed with me. Still, if window seating and a broad bread selection matter to you, it would be better to arrive a little earlier.
