The five bite-size open sandwiches in particular were as delicious as they looked, so they were fun to photograph and fun to try one by one too (✿◡‿◡)♡

Dento, the new brunch café near Banwoldang Station, is tucked inside an alley in Bongsan-dong, so it was nice to stroll over from the station. There are so many pretty cafés around Bongsan-dong lately, so it feels like a great neighborhood for a brunch date or meeting a friend too ღ•͈ᴗ•͈ღ

The moment we walked into Dento, it felt kitschy yet warm. Most of all, fresh flowers were placed throughout, making the whole space so lovely (✿◡‿◡)♡ It was colorful but comfortable overall—pretty for photos, and the kind of space that simply puts you in a good mood while sitting there.

I personally love cafés with this kind of cute, charming atmosphere, so I kept taking photos even before the food arrived ღ•͈ᴗ•͈ღ

Why we chose the five bite-size open sandwiches

What we ordered that day was the five bite-size open sandwiches. Looking at the menu, I saw plenty of sandwich options besides that too, including a truffle cheese sandwich & tomato soup, grilled shrimp sandwich & mini salad, and omelet ham-and-cheese sandwich & mini salad ✧( ु•⌄• )

Still, for a first visit to Dento, the open sandwiches seemed perfect for trying several things at once. The presentation is so pretty right from the start, isn’t it? (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و ♡

Beautifully presented open sandwiches

Each little piece of bread had different toppings, so it was fun choosing them one by one ٩(◕‿◕。)۶ Even though you order one sandwich plate, you get to experience lots of flavors, so I thought it was an especially good setup for anyone who struggles to choose a menu item.

They look like cute little open toasts, but when we tried each one, the ingredient pairings were so thoughtful that it felt more like tasting a series of tiny dishes than simple toast ✧( ु•⌄• ) We even said it felt like eating refined little plates, even though they were open toasts.

The romesco grilled vegetables my boyfriend liked best

Out of all of them, my boyfriend said the romesco grilled vegetables were the most delicious. The grilled vegetables had that subtle, distinct flavor and were light and easy to eat, while also pairing beautifully with the other ingredients. The doneness was just perfect, I guess 。˃̵͈̑ᴗ❛。

He normally reaches for meat or ham first when he eats sandwiches, but he said the grilled vegetables were delicious enough to stay in his memory the most. Since several varieties came on one plate, it was fun to choose one each and talk about which was best. Isn’t that exactly the fun of brunch? (✿◡‿◡)♡

The truffle ricotta I fell for

I seriously became completely obsessed with the truffle ricotta here. Owner, the truffle ricotta is honestly insane ( ˃̣̣̣̣̣̣︿˂̣̣̣̣̣̣ ) The soft, nutty ricotta with the aroma of truffle added on top made the flavor come alive.

After eating it, I genuinely thought they should add truffle ricotta as a standalone menu item too, haha. It was delicious as part of the sandwich topping, but I wanted to eat a generous serving of this on its own. If you love truffles, I really hope you try it ♡

Brunch with an Americano

Brunch feels a little incomplete without coffee, doesn’t it? We had the open sandwiches with an Americano, and the pairing was really good ☕️ The Americano kept the sandwiches’ nutty, soft flavors nice and clean, so I took a sip of coffee here and there as I ate.

Especially because we ate a little of each open sandwich, we never got tired of one flavor and enjoyed everything right to the end. It is a lovely place to take your time over brunch with coffee, and one I’d like to recommend to anyone looking for a good brunch spot around Banwoldang (੭˙ᗜ˙)੭

A space made for a Bongsan-dong date

I think Dento’s charm comes not only from the food but also from the atmosphere of the space. It has a kitschy sensibility, but the fresh flowers gave it an overall warm, cozy feeling.

It did not feel cold, and there were cute touches everywhere that made it easy to stay comfortably. So I think it would be a nice visit for anyone looking for a new brunch café near Banwoldang Station, a good Bongsan-dong restaurant, or a great sandwich spot in Daegu.

It was a great space for chatting over pretty food and suited a casual brunch date perfectly too. If, like us, you enjoy trying lots of flavors, I think the five bite-size open sandwiches might be the most fun item on the menu ˶ᐢᗜᐢ˶

More than anything, I keep thinking about that truffle ricotta, haha. I really do hope they make it a standalone menu item someday (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤ Dento is a new brunch café in Bongsan-dong worth dropping by when you want something a little different from the usual sandwiches around Banwoldang, or when you want to enjoy a relaxed meal with coffee in a pretty setting. If you like open sandwiches, I think you’d enjoy stopping in ♡(。☌ᴗ☌。)
