Gwiin-ro pho restaurant in Anyang for a date lunch: Pho Witch

I was craving pho lately, so I went to Pho Witch (포위치) near the academy area in Anyang. I'd noticed its big pink sign when passing by and got curious, so this time I finally visited and tried it.

Where is Pho Witch, and what about parking?

Pho Witch is at 61-27 Gwiin-ro 190beon-gil, Dongan-gu, Anyang, Gyeonggi, South Korea, on the 1st floor. Parking is available and free 🚗

Inside Pho Witch: good for a date or a group meal?

The inside is roomier than I expected, with plenty of tables, so I could sit and eat comfortably.

There's group seating too, so it looks good for group gatherings~

The wall is decorated with a menu board and posters, with plants placed around it. It's a restaurant, but parts of it are cutely decorated like a café, so the whole place felt lively.

The space for two is cozy, so it looked nice for friends or couples to eat together in private. That makes it a great pick for anyone looking for a place to eat on an Anyang date.

Considering the overall atmosphere, it also looks good for a Pyeongchon lunch. There were menu items that are easy to eat at lunchtime. It seems like a fine place to meet a friend for lunch near the Anyang academy area, or to grab a quick meal before or after plans.

This is the menu. I ordered these three dishes that day.

How does the smoky pad thai (₩12,000) taste?

As the name says, Pho Witch's smoky pad thai had that subtle wok-fired smokiness typical of stir-fried dishes.

It's sweet and nutty.

It's topped with shrimp, bean sprouts and vegetables, so the texture was more varied than noodles alone. The bean sprouts were crunchy and the shrimp springy, and the combination with the noodles worked well.

Is the spicy pho (₩11,000) very hot?

Pho Witch's spicy pho was moderately spicy. Even people who can't handle heat could eat it, I think?!

It's a different style from regular clear pho, so people who like a spicy broth will probably enjoy it.

The rice noodles were soft and chewy and went well with the broth. If you're looking for pho in Anyang and like spicy broth, the spicy pho should suit you.

Side dish: whole-shrimp balls (₩4,000)

The whole-shrimp balls I ordered as a side are only ₩4,000, so they're easy to add without a second thought.

They came out round and crispy-fried, crunchy outside with the plump texture of shrimp meat inside. They're a nice side when pho alone feels like not enough, and they seemed easy to enjoy for kids too.

Pho Witch suits anyone looking for a pho restaurant in Anyang, a light Pyeongchon lunch spot, or a place for a date meal in Anyang where you can eat and chat comfortably. Considering the food and the atmosphere together, it was an easy place to visit, and it's worth a stop if you're looking for somewhere to eat near the Anyang academy area.
