Chessboard floor and LP wall at a Suwon bagel café: Orange Bagel

Looking for a bagel spot in Suwon, aka a large café in Suwon, I went back to Orange Bagel, which I'd first visited in March! It's not just a place with good bread — it's memorable for combining a distinctive New York-ish space with a wide variety of bagels. The store is spacious with a vintage vibe, so it's great for photos, and there were more bagel options than I expected, which made picking one by one fun. Today I'll go through the outside and inside atmosphere, the menu I ordered, and the taste in detail at this large Suwon café near Seoul, Orange Bagel.

What does Orange Bagel look like from outside?

This is the overall exterior of Orange Bagel — the building itself is so grand that you can tell right away it's a large Suwon café. The red-brick building has several large arched windows, giving it a very exotic feel. Even the lettering on the outer wall and the character decorations show off the brand's personality!

Alongside the bagels, various items like clothing and small goods are displayed too, so browsing is fun. The orange-toned packaging catches your eye, and overall it evokes an American bagel shop or deli.

With so many bagels lined up, I ended up agonizing over which menu to choose.

Second-floor seating and the LP room

The 2nd floor of Orange Bagel has seating set up in the middle of the store. With the exposed ceiling, concrete columns, and vintage furniture, you can feel the mood of the space pretty well even just from photos.

The sixth photo shows seating set up in front of a big window. Natural light comes in near the window, making it feel bright and open overall — good for 2–3 people to sit and relax.

There's a wall filled with LPs and album covers. LPs and albums in various colors are arranged on the wall like a small exhibition space. If you like music, it'd be fun to browse the albums one by one.

Below the LP interior are Orange Bagel boxes and old-feeling furniture. It has a distinct character, clearly different from the clean interiors common at cafés these days!

With several tables set up, it seemed fine for family visits or hanging out with friends. Natural light comes in near the windows, while there's sofa seating further inside, so the mood shifts a bit from spot to spot.

There's a wide white table with black chairs, and a dog photo hanging on the back wall that really catches your eye. Overall it has a vintage yet slightly hip feel, making it a good spot for photos too.

This looked like a great seat for a group, good for visits with friends or family. Perfect for anyone looking for a large Suwon café!

The chessboard floor was the standout

The space that stood out most at Orange Bagel was the chessboard-floor area. The entire floor is done in a black-and-white chessboard pattern, so your eyes go straight to the floor the moment you walk in.

There's a big window at the back letting sunlight in, making the space feel bright and open. If you're taking photos, this chessboard floor would make a pretty backdrop.

With the brick walls, the pattern on the floor, and an American flag hanging on one side, it felt like an American vintage diner. This is one of the spaces that best shows off Orange Bagel's own New York concept.

There are speakers and vintage decorations on the red brick, with old-feeling furniture and props below. In particular, the NEGRONI poster set up in the middle catches your eye — it was fun to see even small props like this matching the space's concept.

There's an outdoor rooftop too

Having a rooftop too — I want to recommend this to anyone looking for a large Suwon café or a café near Seoul!

On the building's rooftop there are several tables and chairs, so on a nice day you can enjoy your bagel and coffee outdoors. The floor is wide tiling with tables spaced comfortably around, giving off a clearly different mood from indoors.

Since the sky is fully visible from here, it would feel especially good to visit on a nice-weather day.

Tables run along the red-brick building, with string lights installed overhead. On a clear day it'd be great for photos against the blue sky and clouds, and in the evening, once the lights turn on, it'd have a whole different vibe.

Unlike the New York vintage feel indoors, the rooftop feels a bit more relaxed and open, so it's worth going up if the weather's nice.

This time I picked a variety of menu items.

We ordered 3 kinds of bagels and 3 kinds of drinks to share among us.

🍑 Peach oolong iced tea, 7,000 won

The peach oolong iced tea had the sweet, fragrant feel of peach with the subtle tea aroma unique to oolong tea layered on top.

🧊 Cold brew, 6,000 won

The cold brew was clean and refreshing, easy to drink. Paired with the bagels, the coffee's slight bitterness went well with the bagel's nutty flavor. If you personally like the bagel-and-coffee combo, this is a safe pick. A great coffee spot in Suwon 👍

Americano, 5,500 won

As the most basic option, the americano was easy to drink alongside the bagels. It doesn't get in the way of the bagel's own flavor while adding the coffee's bitterness, so it seems to pair well no matter which bagel you pick without much divide in preference. If you go for a sweeter bagel, pairing it with an americano would work well too.

Comparing the three bagels

Three kinds of bagels! Let me introduce the taste of each one.

🥨 Laugen butter bagel, 6,900 won

Of all the bagels I had this time, this was the one I was most satisfied with. I'd had it on my last visit too, but it's so popular I barely managed to grab one this time. 😂

You can taste the salty, savory flavor unique to Laugen (lye-treated pretzel-style dough), and with the butter inside added on top, the flavor gets even richer.

The outside has a chewy, springy texture, and the more you chew, the more the nutty flavor comes through — clearly different from a plain bagel. With the butter's soft flavor and the saltiness together, it was so delicious~👍❤️

🌶️ Pepperoni bagel, 6,300 won

The pepperoni bagel had a name unusual enough for a bagel that I was curious about it.

The salty, savory pepperoni flavor melded with the bagel and gave off a slight pizza-like feel. If you like bolder flavors over plain bagels, this would suit you well. In particular, with the bagel's own chewy texture combined with the pepperoni's saltiness, it felt more like a light meal than a snack.

🍫 Mocha bun bagel, 4,300 won

Last up is the sweet mocha bun bagel.

It had the sweet, nutty aroma unique to mocha, making it a bagel that goes well with coffee.

At ₩4,300, it was also the most affordable of the bagels we ordered this time, making it a nice, easy pick for a simple dessert.

The restrooms are separate for men and women!

Was the return visit to Orange Bagel worth it?

The biggest strength I felt on this visit was that Orange Bagel isn't just about bagels in Suwon — you get to enjoy the space itself. Usually, when you think of a bagel café, you picture a cozy shop or a clean, minimal bakery space, but here the scale is big and there's a clear concept from the exterior all the way inside, making it fun just to look around.

Especially since the store is so spacious, it seemed good for visiting with friends or spending relaxed time with family, and since the mood shifts from spot to spot — the window seats, the LP space, and so on — it seems like you could enjoy a different feel each time you visit. If you're looking for a large café in Suwon, a great bagel spot in Suwon, or a unique bagel café in Suwon, Orange Bagel is worth putting on the list.^^
