Duck restaurant near Ulsan Grand Park for summer baeksuk: Tteuldamjip
In short
Tteuldamjip (뜰담집) is a duck restaurant in Yulli, Cheongnyang-eup, Ulju, Ulsan, near Ulsan Grand Park and Munsu Stadium. Worn out by the summer heat, the writer and a friend booked a day ahead for duck baeksuk (whole duck boiled in broth), then finished with duck baeksuk porridge made with mung beans; the rich broth had no gamey smell, and the meat pulled apart at a touch of chopsticks. With a large parking lot and a cool dining room, Tteuldamjip is an easy pick for a stamina meal near Ulsan Grand Park.

Why I went to Tteuldamjip for a summer stamina meal
I went to Tteuldamjip (뜰담집), a duck restaurant near Ulsan Grand Park, for a summer stamina meal. The weather has been so hot lately that I tire easily and my body feels heavy. So I decided to do proper body-boosting food and picked Tteuldamjip, known as an Ulsan Grand Park favorite.

Tteuldamjip is a duck restaurant that has been loved in Yulli, Ulsan for over 20 years, and they say about a million people have visited, making it one of Ulsan's signature restaurants. On weekday lunches it's a spot for office workers and business meetings, and on weekends many people come for family meals or group gatherings.

What are parking and the dining room like at Tteuldamjip?
There is a large private parking lot in front of the restaurant, so even for group gatherings or family meals, parking was no worry.

The inside was also spacious and pleasant. It was convenient that you can walk in without taking your shoes off, and above all the air conditioning was running nice and cool, so we could eat comfortably even in midsummer.

Do you need to book duck baeksuk at Tteuldamjip?
The baeksuk dishes take a long time to cook, so you need to reserve at least 1 hour 30 minutes ahead. I booked a day in advance before visiting.

Side dishes set out before the duck arrives
When we arrived at our reservation time, the side dishes were already neatly laid out. There was a nice variety of Korean sides, like japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), kimchi, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), seasoned cucumber and seasoned bean sprouts, and since it was mostly fresh vegetables, it went perfectly with the baeksuk.

Tteuldamjip menu: duck and chicken dishes
Tteuldamjip is also famous as an Ulsan duck stew spot, and it sells a range of stamina dishes: duck bulgogi, duck stew, duck baeksuk, ot duck (lacquer-tree duck) and chicken baeksuk. They say they use fresh duck delivered the same day, which made me trust it even more.

Tteuldamjip duck baeksuk: broth and meat
What stood out about the duck baeksuk was the broth: clean with no gamey smell, yet deep and rich. Soon the baeksuk we'd been waiting for arrived, and with the well-simmered duck and various herbal medicinal ingredients, it made me feel healthier just looking at it.

I took a spoonful of the broth first, and it was clean with no gamey smell but deep and rich. It was among the most satisfying duck baeksuk I've ever had.
The duck meat was so tender it shredded along the grain at just a touch of chopsticks. It was soft and moist enough that older people with weak teeth could eat it with no trouble.

Duck is milder than chicken yet still has a nutty richness, and eating it with the deeply simmered broth, I felt my body being nourished all by itself.

The broth was so good I didn't need to season it at all, and my spoon kept going back. The geotjeori-style (fresh, unfermented) kimchi served alongside went really well with the baeksuk, and the kkakdugi added a cool, crunchy texture that refreshed my mouth.

Is Tteuldamjip's duck baeksuk porridge cooked separately?
Tteuldamjip's duck baeksuk porridge is not made by boiling the leftover broth; they prepare it separately. After working hard through the meat, I ordered the porridge to finish. Unlike many places where they cook it in the leftover broth, they made it separately, so it was even cleaner to enjoy.

The porridge, with mung beans, was nutty and soft, and eating it with kkakdugi on the side was so good. It was a really big portion for two friends, but it tasted so good that we nearly finished it!

A stamina meal near Munsu Stadium and Ulsan Grand Park
Tteuldamjip is near Ulsan Munsu Football Stadium and the baseball stadium, so it's well known as a Munsu Stadium eatery and is a good place to eat before or after a game. I'd also recommend it to people looking for a Yulli restaurant, or a place to restore your energy after an outing with family.

From rich duck baeksuk to refreshing duck stew, if you're looking for duck stew or baeksuk in Ulsan, or a restaurant near Ulsan Grand Park, give Tteuldamjip a visit. The big parking lot, pleasant interior and carefully made stamina food all satisfied me. It's a place I'd gladly return to when I need a healthy meal.
