Einspänner café in Yeongjongdo on a couple's drive: 5PM sunset hour
In short
5PM sunset hour is a coffee and bakery café on the ground floor of the KCC Switzen apartment shopping arcade in Yeongjong Sky City, Incheon. A couple stopped by late during a drive, when the bakery was almost sold out, and ordered an ice cream salt bread, a mocha salt bread, an americano and an Einspänner, naming the rich-cream Einspänner the best they have ever had. Verdict: 5PM sunset hour is a café worth revisiting on every trip to Yeongjongdo.

Where is 5PM sunset hour, and can you park?
5PM sunset hour is a café on the ground floor of the shops in the KCC Swichen apartment complex in Yeongjong Sky City, Incheon. The weather was lovely, so we went for a drive around Incheon and found a really good café. The coffee, the bakery and the prices were all the best :) Since it's inside the apartment shops, you can park in the complex, and you don't need to register!

5PM sunset hour sits on a corner of the shops, so it's easy to spot :) The exterior has a warm mood with a spoonful of hip style ☺️ So pretty!!

Seating and opening hours
5PM sunset hour has lots of outdoor seats, and indoors fits about 2 groups. With weather like this, I recommend sitting outside.

It's closed every Monday, and open Tuesday to Sunday from 7 AM to 7 PM :)

What is the inside of 5PM sunset hour like?
Inside 5PM sunset hour, green plants and accent lighting create a warm yet hip mood. Isn't it so pretty inside? The owner's good taste shows in every corner 👍🏻 It was great for taking photos haha

Is it okay to go with kids?
Most of the bakery items at 5PM sunset hour are well known, salt bread included, and there are plenty of sandwiches too. Lots of people bring their kids and get takeout, so it seems great for all ages. They sell drinks babies can have, and there's free jelly for children too!

Is there bakery left if you go late?
We went so late that the bakery at 5PM sunset hour was almost entirely sold out. Luckily some salt bread (a buttery Korean roll with a salty crust) was left, so we chose the signature ice cream salt bread and, from the regular salt breads, the mocha one :)

For drinks we chose an americano and an Einspänner (coffee topped with thick cream). The Einspänner and the latte are the signatures of 5PM sunset hour, so you have to try them! hahaha I haven't had the latte, but the reviews are so good!

Even while we were ordering, customers kept coming in. Many get takeout, and many come just to enjoy the bakery ^^

Ta-da! Here are the drinks and bakery we ordered! The owner brings them over personally haha Doesn't it look amazing?

What does the ice cream salt bread taste like?
The ice cream salt bread at 5PM sunset hour is a salt bread re-warmed right after you order, topped with Sangha Farm (상하목장) ice cream. Look at the Einspänner and the ice cream salt bread, wow. The salt bread was crisp outside, soft inside and warm, and the ice cream doesn't melt right away just because the bread is warm!

My hand is so big that it looks small, but it's actually large haha And the portion is really big! The salt bread is warm and the ice cream is cold, so you have to eat it fast!!

The ice cream doesn't melt as fast as I expected, but the bottom melts quickly! Since it's Sangha Farm ice cream, it's really rich and nutty. Maybe that's why lots of little kids were eating it too. It was my first time, and I understood why it's the signature haha

Is the mocha salt bread very sweet?
The mocha salt bread at 5PM sunset hour combines a mocha bun with salt bread. It's sweet-salty-sweet-salty but not too sweet, just right :) It's crisp outside and soft inside, so I think all ages would like it haha One bite and it was chewy and so good. I feel like I've been to salt bread shops 10,000 times, and this one is truly delicious hahaha

How do the americano and Einspänner taste?
Here are the americano and Einspänner we ordered at 5PM sunset hour. So pretty, right? hahaha But the taste is even more amazing. Of all the Einspänners I've had, this is the best,, and my husband said it's the best he's had in his whole life.. haha
First, the americano! A total pass. Low acidity and full of nutty flavor~ with a deep aroma, exactly the taste I wanted. Coffee lovers will probably all like it, with a deep roasted-bean flavor haha

The cream on top of the Einspänner at 5PM sunset hour is really rich. Most Einspänners would lose to this lol It's really rich, moderately sweet and nutty, the best taste, where you can feel the owner's care. Highly recommended~!
Good to know before going back
- The bakery items are said to come out from 9 AM.
- The financier, egg tart and canelé are also said to be really good, so I'll definitely try them next time.
- Unusually, it is said to run 24 hours, split into staffed hours and unstaffed hours.
We often travel to Yeongjongdo, and 5PM sunset hour is a place I'd want to stop by every time we come. Great taste and great atmosphere, and such a warm place. Highly recommended!
