Cheongdam spa gua sha for a tight trapezius: Clermont Monde

In short

Clermont Monde is a 100%-reservation skin and body care salon on Dosan-daero 92-gil near Cheongdam Station in Gangnam, Seoul. The booking was made to loosen a trapezius stiffened by desk work, and the course ran from hand-pressure massage on the back and shoulder blades to gua sha, a décolleté massage and a far-infrared dome finish. Clermont Monde did not stop at the back — the therapist worked down the arms to the fingertips, and the raised trapezius sat visibly lower afterwards.

Main image from the visit to Clermont Monde in Cheongdam

I've been sitting in front of a computer way too long lately and my trapezius muscles have turned into literal rocks. My shoulder line kept looking more raised and the back of my neck was stiff more days than not. After looking around a few massage shops, I found Clermont Monde, known for skin care in Cheongdam. The reviews kept calling it one of the best-value lymphatic massage spots in Seoul, so this felt like the right chance to check it out.

Clermont Monde in Cheongdam: what to know before booking

Clermont Monde runs on a 100% reservation system, so I could get treated comfortably with no waiting around. They offer a range of courses — facial, partial body, full body, and bridal care — so you can pick based on what you want. Prices can vary by season, so I'd recommend calling ahead to double-check before visiting.

Finding the ivy-covered sign in the Dosan-daero 92-gil alley

Clermont Monde's sign is covered in ivy from top to bottom, so it stood out even in the alley. With the brick exterior wrapped in greenery, the whole place had a healing kind of vibe.

Once inside, the waiting area was decorated in a nature-friendly style, with trees visible through the window — it really put me at ease!

On the shelf next to the consultation desk, certificates and the products in use were lined up neatly, which gave me a lot of confidence. They use quality products like Bakuna, Ericson Laboratoire, and Darphin —

While filling out the intake form, they carefully checked my skin type and which areas I wanted treated

Powder room supplies including a hair dryer and lens cleaning solution

The locker room was spacious too, stocked with everything you'd need — towels, combs, a hair dryer, even lens cleaning solution — you could really feel the consideration for guests. They even had a UV sterilizer keeping the hair tools separately managed!

I changed into a gown and headed to the treatment room. The treatment rooms are on the 2nd floor, with several separate rooms, so it felt private and comfortable!

What the back course covers, from hand massage to gua sha

Treatment bed where the back massage begins

The Clermont Monde therapist worked in order from my back to my shoulder blades, scapula, lats, trapezius, shoulders, arms, and all the way to my fingers — really thorough, pressing carefully through each spot.

First she did hand massage, pressing spot by spot as if seeking out each knot,

then she used a gua sha tool along the muscle grain around the trapezius and shoulder blades — it felt amazingly good, though a couple of spots did sting a little, haha ㅠㅠ

Getting this trapezius-release treatment, certain spots ached with a sharp pinch and I kept thinking, was this area really this knotted up? Especially since the massage continued down through the shoulders and arms, it felt like the whole area was getting circulation going, not just the back.

Treatment working loose the back of the neck and fingers

She worked loose the bones at the back of my neck and each finger individually, and the numbness I often get in my hands felt noticeably lighter afterward.

Décolleté massage received while lying down

After the back treatment, I lay down for a décolleté massage that went through the collarbone, shoulders, and upper abdomen — pure bliss. I've been to several places in Seoul known for good-value lymphatic massage, but the therapists at Clermont Monde really have excellent pressure and technique — it felt like all the toxins were being flushed out.

After the treatment, I finished up in a far-infrared dome machine that helps blood circulation — I sweated warmly and my whole body felt pleasantly heavy and relaxed.

Is one trapezius treatment enough?

The salon space after the treatment was finished

Usually when you go to a massage shop for a back treatment, they often just do a quick pass on your back and call it done, but I liked that Clermont Monde worked all the way down to the arms and fingertips in detail. Rather than a one-time thing, I think getting it consistently would make the effect last longer. If you're looking for a proper, good-value lymphatic massage in Seoul, or want to release a tight trapezius, I'd recommend giving Clermont Monde, a skin care salon in Cheongdam, a try!
