Atmosphere: is Haekbap Amsa okay for dining solo?
The restaurant is on the 2nd floor of the building, but the sign stands out, so it wasn't hard to find.

I went on a weekday evening, and there was a mix of customers: solo diners, students, office workers and couples.

It felt relatively relaxed for a rice bowl place near Amsa Station, so going alone looked perfectly comfortable.
Interior and seating

The whole restaurant felt bright and clean.

The tables are fairly well spaced, so it didn't feel cramped, and there are separate seats made for eating alone. It looked like a good fit for anyone hunting for a lunch spot in Amsa or a solo dining place in Gangdong.

Thanks to how tidy the place is kept, I felt comfortable throughout the meal.

Table setting

Spoons and chopsticks are kept in a drawer at the table. They come individually wrapped, which felt hygienic, and the tissues and other utensils were neatly arranged too.
Cube steak bowl and salmon bowl set: how did they taste?

Before long, the food we ordered arrived!

The salad in particular was fresh and the dressing was good, so I ended up refilling it twice without even realizing. It wasn't just the mains; even the basic sides were satisfying.
Cube steak rice bowl

The dish I was most looking forward to that day was Haekbap Amsa's cube steak rice bowl.

The steak looked great just sitting there, and it was cut into bite-size pieces, so it was easy to enjoy.
Salmon rice bowl set

The salmon rice bowl set caught my eye from the first look. The salmon was piled on generously, so it looked delicious, and it genuinely tasted fresh.
The salmon was soft with a nicely nutty richness and almost no fishy smell, so it went down clean. With wasabi, the flavor came alive even more and it paired well with the rice.

The karaage (Japanese fried chicken) that came with it was crispy outside and juicy inside, a satisfying side,

and the udon had a clean-tasting broth that made a nice companion.
