So.. before visiting I looked Gimssi Chicken up and every photo had people lined up! I wondered if that could really be true, but sure enough, there was a big line on the day I went too, so I only photographed the sign.

Menu and prices: a whole fried chicken for 9,900 won

A whole fried chicken for 9,900 won is seriously top-tier value 👍 These days two chickens easily hit forty thousand won, so this passes on price alone!

They also have dakgangjeong on the menu, and chicken can be bought by the cut, so drumstick lovers would like this too~

Maybe because it was a weekend evening when I went, even the par-fried chicken was running out. I'd already placed a phone order in advance. If you're busy, I recommend calling ahead 🥲

Dipping sauces cost 500 won a tub

Sauce is 500 won a container, and you just grab one when ordering and tuck it in your bag. There are lots of kinds, so it's fun to choose~ I got the cheese jalapeño! 🤓

It was handed over freshly fried and the chicken smell was insane... steam kept rising off it, warming my arms even through the bag. I endured the long trek home on the subway with it 🥵

Bone-in fried chicken plus medium dakgangjeong for 18,900 won

I ordered a whole bone-in fried chicken plus a medium-spicy dakgangjeong, medium size. All together, 18,900 won~ It came out even more massive than in photos — honestly enough that I should've called two more friends.

I'd run around a few places before getting home so I couldn't eat it right away, but the second it hit my mouth — crunch! I was genuinely moved... sigh... frying it this well. The staff were sweating buckets, frying nonstop, and I appreciated every bite so much... 🐔

Dipping it in the seasoned sauce would obviously be great too, but I dipped it in the cheese jalapeño sauce I'd bought. Mmm~ cheese sauce really is the best. It was delicious plain with nothing on it, but dipped in sauce it was a whole different flavor!

Can you see the texture of the meat inside... even the breast part wasn't dry at all, so tasty. Selling good-quality chicken this cheap, are they even making a profit?

Medium-spicy dakgangjeong, and the free size-up from the owner

Here's the medium-spicy dakgangjeong! Actually, I'd accidentally placed my phone order at a different branch^^... (please double-check which branch you're calling), and I'd had to just send the payment and cancel the wrong order 🥹 When they heard my story, they went 'aigo~' feeling bad for me and gave me a bigger dakgangjeong size for free. The owner is so sweet~

I mixed in some yuzu grapefruit concentrate I'd brought from Namhae, made a highball, and properly enjoyed it solo. 🐷 This is exactly the moment to power up on pork-belly energy, right?

Honestly, when I eat this kind of dish I'm the type who goes crazy for the rice cakes in it. There was a generous amount, and they were chewy and delicious.

How spicy is the medium-spicy dakgangjeong?

The medium-spicy level is actually more savory-spicy than truly hot? Just a light kick, so it seems perfect for adults. If you like something spicier and more intense, go for the extra-hot. Eating the medium-spicy felt similar to Manseok Dakgangjeong. I'd guess the mild version would be great for kids.

Still crispy straight from the fridge the next morning

There was way too much food haha.... so I portioned it out, ate some, and saved the rest for the next day. When I woke up and tried the dakgangjeong, even straight from the fridge it was crispy and genuinely delicious ㅠㅠ ❤️
