Sammokjip is a BBQ restaurant specializing in aged meat: the pork belly and neck are aged so they come out tender and deeply flavored!

Reserved table setup, with myeongi namul and wasabi
I reserved for around 7:30 pm, and the side dishes were already set out for me! I was so happy to see myeongi namul (pickled wild greens), and wasabi too..! That's the basic setting.

A clean menu and the essential ssam vegetables (leaf wraps). You can grab more from the self-serve corner.

They even have aprons ready, so just help yourself!!

Sunset through big windows and roomy table spacing
The sunset seen through the big windows at Sammokjip was so pretty. The inside is clean and felt really pleasant. You can tell they keep things well maintained.

The tables are spaced generously, so you don't have to worry about the next table. I ate comfortably. It's also very airy and the air conditioning is blasting!

Sammokjip also runs a receipt review event: a free steamed egg..! The steamed egg here is fluffy and really good, so getting it through the review event sounds great.

Sauces including melchi jeot
Kimchi and melchi jeot (salted anchovy sauce) come out first! Places serving melchi jeot aren't common, and having a variety of sauces made things colorful and fun.

Meat grilled for you over charcoal
At Sammokjip, the staff grill the meat for you right over charcoal! Being grilled for you is more comfortable, the meat smell is everywhere!! The meat was chewy and really delicious.
The look of it is amazing, right..! Charcoal aroma sizzling, juices bursting.

They keep grilling until the very end, so we could eat comfortably while chatting. I think Sammokjip's strength is that you can have a relaxed meal talking with your group!

Steamed egg for ₩4,000, a fluffy side
Ta-da, the steamed egg I ordered has arrived!! It puffed up completely fluffy and looks so appetizing..!! Savory and soft, I'm giving this steamed egg 100 points.

Grilled kimchi, mushrooms and shishito peppers to eat alongside~ I really love shishito peppers, and the grilled ones were so good, I cleaned them all up~

A bite of meat, a bite of steamed egg. Isn't that such a great combo?? Juicy and fluffy. I didn't stop there and ordered the iron-plate kimchi fried rice too.

Iron-plate kimchi fried rice for ₩5,000, a finish to eat with the meat
The iron-plate kimchi fried rice, topped with a golden fried egg, is even better after a while as nurungji (scorched rice) than right when it arrives. It's great wrapped in a ssam with the meat too. Fried rice is the must-have last course after meat, right? Here it already comes on the iron plate, so you can eat it together with the meat.
Who it's good for
If you're craving charcoal-grilled pork belly or neck near Gwangmyeong Sageori Station, or want a BBQ place where the meat is grilled for you, I recommend Sammokjip Gwangmyeong Sageori Station Branch! I think it also works well for family dinners, company dinners and gatherings!
