À la carte tacos and hamaica at a Gimhae taco restaurant: Holstaco

I went to check out the Lotte Outlet in Gimhae and ended up hunting for a real find nearby — that's how I discovered Holstaco, a taco spot in Jangyu, Gimhae. Apparently it's already famous in Daejeon.

This is Holstaco Yulha, the go-to taco spot in Yulha, Jangyu, Gimhae.

Holstaco Yulha is open daily from 11:30 to 20:30 and closed every Monday. If a public holiday falls on Monday, the closed day shifts to Tuesday.

The interior was decked out with strong Mexican vibes! I liked that they had both group tables and single seats.

For sets, the 2-person burrito set (₩30,500) comes with a chili burrito + birria + Horse snack + 2 sodas, and the 2-person taco set (₩30,500) comes with birria + carnitas + camaron + mac taco + nachos & salsa + 2 sodas.

For tacos: birria taco 2 pieces (₩10,900), carnitas taco (₩4,900), camaron taco (₩5,800), chili burrito (₩8,500). Sides: chili nachos (₩9,500), dorilocos (₩8,000), Horse snack (₩8,000), nachos & salsa (₩4,000). Drinks: haritos (₩4,800), hamaica (₩4,000), cola/Sprite (₩2,000).

I ordered the chili burrito, birria taco, carnitas, camaron, and a hamaica!

Every table comes set up with disposable gloves, wet wipes, tissues, and hot sauce!

What is hamaica, the hibiscus drink?

The hamaica came out first. Apparently hamaica is a Mexican-style hibiscus iced tea! It's red from the hibiscus and refreshing, but there's also a cinnamon flavor and aroma that surprised me :)

Here's my full taco spread haha. I was so hungry I ordered a lot. Even ordering this much came to about ₩30,000, so it's a place you can visit without much burden whenever you're craving tacos~~!

Birria taco: how to dip it in the sauce

For the birria taco, you squeeze lime into the sauce and dip the taco in it. What's appealing about this birria taco is how crispy the outside is.

It's packed with a good amount of meat and cheese, so the flavor and richness were great. Eating it without sauce also had its own appealing, savory taste.

Personally, the birria taco was the best one. The tortilla part being crispy was so appealing. Dipping it in the sauce made it more intense and delicious haha.

How spicy is the chili burrito at Holstaco Yulha?

The chili burrito apparently has a hearty base of chili rice and cheese, packed with fresh lettuce. Most burritos usually have plain white rice, but Holstaco's burrito uses seasoned rice, which surprised me. It wasn't spicy while eating, but I felt a slight heat afterward.

I could taste something like authentic spices or sauces, which was interesting. If you're sensitive to spice, I'd recommend trying a different menu item.

Carnitas taco vs camaron (shrimp) taco

On the left is the carnitas taco, on the right the camaron taco. The carnitas taco pairs mild pork with a house-made avocado sauce, while the camaron pairs crispy fried shrimp with chipotle sauce!

For the carnitas and camaron tacos, you just squeeze lime over the top. The owner kindly explained how to eat them, which I appreciated.

The fried shrimp was big and crispy! Really tasty. I liked that it had all sorts of ingredients — pickled onion, tomato, cabbage — which gave it a rich flavor. Personally, I also thought it tasted good with hot sauce drizzled on top.

Ranking the Holstaco Yulha tacos: final verdict

The vibe was great and the tacos were delicious, so I was very satisfied with Holstaco Yulha! If you're looking for a good spot in Yulha, Jangyu, Gimhae, I recommend Holstaco. It's genuinely that authentic taste you can't get anywhere else!

My personal ranking was birria taco > carnitas > camaron > burrito.

They even have palate-cleansing candy on hand, which is a nice touch. I think I'll be coming back here whenever I'm craving tacos in Gimhae haha.
