Sejong Vietnamese restaurant: smoky bun cha & combo pho, Mekong Thai
In short
Mekong Thai Sejong Naseong Branch is a Vietnamese and Thai restaurant on the 2nd floor of the NS Building on Naseong-ro in Naseong-dong, Sejong. Worn out by the heat and craving a fresh, light bun cha, the writer ordered combo pho with both chuck and brisket, plus bun cha with charcoal-smoky grilled pork. Verdict: Mekong Thai Sejong Naseong Branch is a good Naseong-dong spot for a lunch that doesn't feel heavy.

Mekong Thai in Naseong-dong
Hunting for bun cha in Naseong-dong, Sejong, on a hot day
I went to Mekong Thai Sejong Naseong Branch because I was craving bun cha (Vietnamese grilled pork with cold rice noodles). It's so hot lately that I have zero energy to cook at home!! So I'd much rather eat out!! While deciding what to eat, I wanted something fresh and light because of the heat, and bun cha came to mind!! So I looked for a place in Naseong-dong that serves bun cha and decided to try Mekong Thai!

For a bun cha place in Naseong-dong, nothing else really stood out as much!! That's how I found Mekong Thai! Those in the know will know, it's already famous as a great restaurant, so I felt even more confident going!!

Inside Mekong Thai Sejong Naseong Branch
Mekong Thai in Sejong is near Naseong-dong and the Lake Park, and it's in a really convenient spot for both!!! The interior was clean, which I liked!! It's great for lunch among Naseong-dong restaurants, and the cute, charming atmosphere inside was lovely!

What's on the menu at Mekong Thai?
Mekong Thai Sejong Naseong Branch has a wide range of Vietnamese dishes, from pho (rice noodle soup) to stir-fried noodles. Vietnamese food is something almost everyone enjoys, which is great!! You can eat to your own taste!! With so many choices, it's nice to be able to eat what suits you among Naseong-dong restaurants!! There's even a spicy option, so it's bound to suit Korean tastes!!!!!

There are lots of menu items, but after some thought I ordered nasi goreng (Indonesian-style fried rice) and bun cha!! One of the good things about Vietnamese food is that it comes out fast!! So for a light lunch among Naseong-dong restaurants, nothing beats it!!

Mekong Thai combo pho with chuck and brisket together
Mekong Thai's combo pho comes with two kinds of beef, chuck and brisket, and you can add bean sprouts, cilantro and cheongyang chili pepper (spicy Korean green chili) for free. First up, the combo pho! Having both chuck and brisket in it made it so delicious!! Bean sprouts, cilantro and cheongyang chili were free to add!!

It was savory and tasted properly like the real thing, which put me in a great mood!!

When I added bean sprouts and cilantro, they soaked up the broth and it was so good!! Thanks to the rich broth, the more vegetables went in, the more refreshing it tasted!!

With both the tender chuck and the brisket in there, it was really delicious! The two have different textures, so it felt even more generous!

I got a properly satisfying meal at Mekong Thai Sejong Naseong Branch!!

Combo pho with cheongyang chili and hot sauce
Adding cheongyang chili and hot sauce to the combo pho changes the flavor again! The spicy kick was a fun twist and I loved it!! It's packed with toppings too, so I liked every single texture!!

How do you eat bun cha at Mekong Thai?
Bun cha at Mekong Thai Sejong Naseong Branch comes with meat, vegetables, fried rolls and noodles, and you dip the noodles in the sauce. After that I tried the bun cha too!! It's a dipping style, like this!!

I normally love pho, but it's so hot these days that warm food is hard to eat, so being able to enjoy something this light made it perfect for summer!! Meat, vegetables, fried rolls and noodles all come together! It's a clean, refreshing taste, just right if you're looking for Vietnamese food in Naseong-dong in summer!!

You just dunk the noodles deep in the sauce, and it's so good!! Dipped in, the sauce is mildly tangy and sweet, which really got my appetite going!! You can add vegetables or meat to taste, which is great!!

The tangy, sweet flavor is something almost anyone would enjoy!!! The bun cha pork was also full of charcoal flavor, so it was really delicious!!
