It's an all-you-can-eat buffet with not just freshwater eel but beef, pork and chicken too, plus an unlimited self-bar. Once you know the food quality and then look at the price, you'll think it's a really great deal.
The menu is so varied and the quality so good that lots of people use Jangsodam for company dinners. Do check it out before you go~
Where is Jangsodam Cheongna, and is there parking?
Jangsodam Cheongna Main Branch is on the 2nd floor of the Parking Tower Dome building, near Cheongna Cathedral and right where you can see a Starbucks, so it's easy to find. The parking lot has plenty of room, so no worries even if the whole family comes together. It's also close to Cheongna Lake Park, so it's a nice way to fill up before or after a walk.
A big parking lot with lots of spaces, I love it haha. Looking for eel in Cheongna? This is the place, Jangsodam~

Jangsodam specializes in japonica freshwater eel, but the beef and pork are all-you-can-eat too. They must use only good grades of meat, because it was really tender.
The self-bar has pork galbi, samgyeopsal (pork belly), dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken) and more, plus fried food and tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), and there's even an option to use only the self-bar, so great value.
Maybe because it's so famous in Cheongna, it felt like everyone in Cheongna, Incheon was here... the place was bustling.

How good is the meat at the Jangsodam self-bar?
The self-bar at Jangsodam Cheongna Main Branch has lots of kinds of meat, like moksal (pork neck), samgyeopsal and marinated pork galbi, and the quality was really good. While waiting to be seated I looked at the self-bar behind me and got excited.
The moksal and samgyeopsal especially had such a pretty color, and the bar was packed with the tastiest cuts, so I was looking forward to it.
The pork galbi was nicely marinated too, and the sign says to grill it on the wire-mesh grill!

We were shown to a table by the window. The restaurant is really spacious, the tables are well spaced and the ventilation is good, so we could eat without feeling stuffy.

Which Jangsodam set menu should you choose?
You can order à la carte at Jangsodam Cheongna, but a set menu is definitely the better deal! You can choose among the A, B, C and D Sets to suit what you like to eat.

Personally the freshwater eel was so good that I recommend the A Set or B Set. I had the B Set!

Ordering extra eel and chuck ribs by kiosk
Items that aren't at the self-bar can be ordered through the kiosk, and they bring them straight to your table, which is convenient.

You can add eel by the half, and chuck ribs and marinated raw crab (yangnyeom gejang) can be ordered by kiosk too, so we added just as much as we wanted to eat.

What's on the Jangsodam self-bar?
The self-bar at Jangsodam Cheongna Main Branch is really varied: tofu kimchi, spaghetti, mapo tofu, fried rice, japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), sundae (Korean blood sausage) and offal, and all kinds of fried food. The tofu kimchi was the one I'd been curious about before going! Nutty tofu with well-stir-fried kimchi, a great combo.
There's spaghetti, mapo tofu, fried rice and japchae too.

Slice-your-own sundae, liver and lung
The most memorable item on the Jangsodam self-bar was this sundae, liver and lung! They set out a cutting board and knife so you can slice it yourself, and the lung and liver were so nutty and delicious haha. It's an unexpected menu item but so tasty that I think I ate the most of it.

Fried food, tofu kimchi, side dishes and lettuce wraps
Vegetable fritters, gimmari (fried glass noodle rolls in seaweed), french fries and mokhwa tangsuyuk (cotton-style sweet and sour pork).

There's fried shrimp and chicken too. Maybe because it was late in the evening, I didn't see any tteokbokki so I couldn't try it, but I hear it's good too!
There are lots of side dishes and sauces too.

You can get more wrap vegetables yourself, and with white kimchi, pickles (jangajji), green onion kimchi and more, browsing the self-bar was a lot of fun at this Cheongna eel and beef restaurant.

Look at this nicely sliced lung! Haha. I usually like sundae, and to think I could eat offal here too.
How do the B Set freshwater eel and chuck ribs taste?
The Jangsodam B Set includes chuck ribs and freshwater eel. The eel looked plump and delicious, and the chuck ribs had great marbling.

I started grilling them, half and half on the grill.
The set also includes marinated raw crab (yangnyeom gejang), so I ordered it. The meat was plump and the seasoning spicy, which got my appetite going.

Flip once,

then cut into pieces and grill evenly. The freshwater eel was really plump, so grilling it was what I looked forward to most, and when I tasted it, it was seriously delicious.
Look at this, T_T! One piece is this big. Grilled eel isn't a side dish at Jangsodam but the main menu, so the quality is amazing.
The chuck ribs weren't tough and were tasty, so I ordered more,

and the samgyeopsal I'd spotted earlier, what can I say. It tasted as good as it looked, and I think I ate two servings.

Finishing with Buldak noodles at the self-serve ramen corner
At the Jangsodam self-serve ramen corner I grabbed a pack of Buldak stir-fried noodles (spicy chicken-flavored instant noodles), boiled it and ate it with the leftover meat, and I felt like I was going to burst.

Is Jangsodam Cheongna good for kids and family gatherings?
Jangsodam Cheongna Main Branch even has a playroom where kids can play, so no wonder it's popular for family gatherings, get-togethers with friends and family dinners out. If you're looking for an eel, beef and pork barbecue place in Cheongna, head to Jangsodam Cheongna Main Branch!
