Skewer pub in Bongmyeong-dong, Daejeon: Set 1 for three at Kkojip
In short
Kkojip (꼬집) is a charcoal-grilled skewer pub tucked down an alley off Umbrella Street in Bongmyeong-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. Three friends stopped by for a second round and ordered the 5-skewer Set 1 (21,000 won), the Manneung potato pancake (9,900 won), 3 bottles of Lean soju and 1 draft beer, for a total of 50,400 won. Because Kkojip lets you pick salt, sweet-savory, spicy or barbecue sauce for each skewer, even a single set feels like a mix-and-match tasting.

Kkojip Daejeon Bongmyeong branch
We were out drinking in Bongmyeong-dong and wanted just one more light round, so we ended up at Kkojip (꼬집)! Three of us came, a coworker and me included, and we ordered five kinds of grilled skewers and a potato pancake to go with Lean soju and draft beer haha. You can pick a different sauce for each type of skewer, and the potato pancake made a great drinking snack too.
Where to find Kkojip: inside the Umbrella Street alley in Bongmyeong-dong
It's inside the Umbrella Street alley in Bongmyeong-dong. Walk from Yuseong Oncheon Station toward the Bongmyeong-dong food alley haha. We came for a second round, and there are lots of good restaurants nearby, which makes it even handier!
The Kkojip sign really stands out, so even as first-timers we found it without any trouble.

Atmosphere: a retro pocha with an open kitchen
Kkojip has a retro pocha (Korean street-tent-style pub) feel! Dim lighting, menus on the walls and an open kitchen make it a comfortable place for a drink in Bongmyeong-dong. Watching the open kitchen is fun too 👍

We'd already eaten a lot for the first round, so a few skewers and one pancake to chat over was just right lol

What the three of us ordered, and the prices
This is Kkojip's menu. There are so many kinds of skewers and side dishes that we had a happy time agonizing over what to pick 🤍
- 5-skewer Set 1: ₩21,000
- All-purpose potato pancake: ₩9,900
- Lean soju: ₩5,000 / 3 bottles
- Draft beer: ₩4,500 / 1 glass
- Total for 3 people: ₩50,400

The skewers are grilled fresh right after you order!! Grilling over direct flame is the real charm, and since we sat nearby, watching it was part of the fun too.

Assorted skewers, 5-skewer Set 1 (₩21,000): choose a sauce for each one
5-skewer Set 1 ₩21,000

Here come the five skewers! The set has special chicken, webfoot octopus (jjukkumi), bacon tomato, chicken heart and shrimp.

What's fun about Kkojip is that you can choose the sauce for each skewer separately! Pick from salt, seasoned, spicy seasoned or barbecue and tick your favorites when you order. Even with just one set, every skewer tasted different, so it was fun trying a bit of everything haha

There was a subtle charcoal aroma, and the sauce we chose suited each ingredient well. The texture of the shrimp and webfoot octopus was so good, and you could taste that every ingredient, from the chicken heart to the chicken, was carefully prepared..

Since it doesn't all come with one sauce, the flavor changed with every bite and we never got tired of it.

The seasoned chicken skewer was sweet and salty, and the meat wasn't dry at all, so it went well with soju. The set also included skewers with different textures, like the shrimp and the chicken heart, so it was easy for the three of us to share one each.
All-purpose potato pancake (₩9,900): golden outside, chewy inside
All-purpose potato pancake ₩9,900

The potato pancake is ₩9,900, so the price is easy on the wallet, and it was golden on the outside and chewy inside. Skewers alone might leave you a little hungry, but ordering a pancake alongside made it filling, and the combo was great.

Dipped in ketchup, it's a rice thief... no, a booze thief lol. It isn't just a thin, crispy pancake; you can feel the chewy texture that's unique to potato, and it was delicious.

A sip of Lean soju and then a bite of warm potato pancake was a proper second-round snack haha

How was Kkojip as a second-round spot in Bongmyeong-dong?
Kkojip was a nice, casual place to drop by for a second round while drinking in Bongmyeong-dong. Choosing a different sauce for each skewer is fun, and both the assorted skewers and the potato pancake were satisfying drinking snacks.
The snack prices aren't too steep either, so it's a good place to come with friends when you want one more drink in Bongmyeong-dong :)
