Pet-friendly barbecue in Suyeong, Busan: Donbegi mixed grill

In short

Donbegi Gwang-an Branch is a pet-friendly barbecue restaurant in Millak-dong, Suyeong, Busan, with private rooms and Naver reservations available. I ordered a French rack and five-layer pork belly mixed set, then found the chewy noodles and tangy, chilled broth of the cold kimchi kalguksu especially memorable.

Is this a pet-friendly barbecue restaurant near Gwangalli?

While looking for a pet-friendly restaurant near Gwangalli, I visited Donbegi Gwang-an Branch (돈베기 광안점). Being able to bring a dog was why I chose it, and its private rooms also caught my attention as a possible place for a gathering.

How do the private rooms and reservations work?

The restaurant was more spacious than I expected, with enough room that it seemed suitable for dining with several people. I also liked that it has private rooms. It felt like a good option for a family meal or a gathering with friends where you want to talk while eating.

Naver reservations were available. If you want a particular room or table, it would be best to reserve ahead. I thought a private room could make dining with a dog more relaxed, but this post did not confirm the conditions for using a private room with a pet.

What meat came in the mixed set?

The menu had mixed selections that let you try several cuts, including shoulder rack, French rack, five-layer pork belly, and pork neck. We ordered the mixed set with French rack and five-layer pork belly. I chose it because I like alternating between meats with different textures rather than having just one cut.

How was the meat cooked by the staff?

The meat arrived par-grilled, and a staff member finished cooking it at our table. Since I did not need to turn it over or watch how done it was, I could talk with the person I came with while waiting. It was convenient to be able to eat the meat as soon as it was cooked to a good point.

The French rack was more tender than I expected, with juices when I bit into it. It was good with salt or a little wasabi, which let the flavor of the meat come through. The five-layer pork belly was chewy and savory, making the textural contrast clear when I alternated it with the French rack.

Several side dishes and sauces were served as well. Alternating salt, wasabi, and ssamjang (savory dipping paste), and eating the meat with the side dishes, made it possible to enjoy the same meat in different ways.

Why was the cold kimchi kalguksu especially memorable?

At first, I ordered it thinking it would simply be a refreshing noodle dish to have with the meat. But the kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) were chewy and springy, while the broth was tangy, chilled, and savory.

Taking a bite of cold kimchi kalguksu between the rich, savory meat felt like it refreshed my palate. Personally, it stayed with me more than the meat did. It is a dish I would want to order again on my next visit.

How are the doenjang-jjigae and rice alongside the meal?

We also added doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) and one bowl of rice. The stew was hearty and deeply savory, so it went well with the meat, while the rice made the meal more filling. The cold, tangy kimchi kalguksu and the warm, savory doenjang-jjigae had distinct flavors, so ordering both did not feel repetitive.

Would it work for a family meal or group gathering?

Donbegi Gwang-an Branch occupies the first and second floors and has private rooms, so it seemed suitable for a family meal, a gathering with friends, or a company dinner. In particular, having staff cook the meat felt like an advantage for a larger group, since one person would not need to take on the grilling. If you have a preferred table, it would be best to reserve before visiting.
