In short

5PM sunset hour is a bakery café on the first floor of the KCC Suchwien commercial building in Yeongjong Haneul City, Incheon, open daily 07:00–19:00. The visit started with photos at the orange outdoor bench photo zone, followed by the So-A set (salt bread + americano), a plain bagel, a Nutella chocolate chip scone, a financier and chamomile tea. The salt bread at 5PM sunset hour had a clear butter cave and was crisp outside and soft inside, while the popular milk bread was already sold out in the morning.

Today, still clinging to the lie of "I'll just eat one piece of bread and then diet," I was wandering around Yeongjongdo's Haneul City when I stumbled onto something incredible. Walking along, an orange bench stole my attention, and the smell of freshly baked bread hit me... it was clearly a trap, and clearly irresistible. I walked in as if hypnotized and came out having tasted some of the best bread of my life. Here's my review of 5PM sunset hour.

What is the orange bench photo zone like?

Here are the front entrance and exterior shots. Under the sign with its soft sunset-colored lighting sits an unrealistically vivid orange bench — this place is a genuine photo spot. Even snapping casually gets you Instagram vibes, and before I knew it I'd sat down and taken dozens of shots. Outdoor benches are often poorly maintained, but this one was kept spotlessly clean. 👍👍

Bread display and drink menu inside 5PM sunset hour

The moment I opened the door, what stole my attention was the shining glass-block counter piled high with bread. Honestly I told myself the diet starts tomorrow, but how could anyone resist this visual? From crisp-looking financiers to sweet tarts... there were so many kinds of bread I nearly had decision paralysis.

On the glass window in front of the counter is a carefully written drink menu. From descriptions of the hand-drip beans to various ades and teas, everything is spelled out in detail, and below it the glowing salt breads, scones, and financiers looked incredible. True to a shop serious about its beans, the espresso and cold brew lineup was solid too. Decaf substitution is standard, and just the names of signature menu items like the nutty peanut cream latte or the butterscotch latte made my mouth water.

So-A set, So-Ra set and what we ordered

The 'So-A set' (salt bread + americano) and the 'So-Ra set' (salt bread + café latte) — aren't those names just adorable? I was touched by the value-packed set combos and thought, this is exactly what small happiness looks like. The mango latte next to them looked bursting with freshness too, so I saved that for my next visit. We ordered the So-A set, a plain bagel, a Nutella chocolate chip scone, a financier, and one chamomile tea.

Plate with salt bread, bagel, financier, and scone

How do the salt bread, bagel, Nutella scone and financier taste?

Ta-da! Here's the glowing carb-party plate I brought back after much deliberation. Chewy, salty, glossy salt bread; the plain classic that is the bagel; a golden, nutty-baked financier; and a crisp-outside, moist-inside scone... just looking at it made endorphins surge, didn't it feel like the perfect combo? I had a happy dilemma over what to eat first, but I went straight for the saltiest-looking bread and took a big bite. The nutty butter flavor that filled my mouth made me think, 'I'm so glad I came.'

What a nice touch, pairing delicious desserts with a warm, mellow cup of tea! Pouring the warm tea from the clear glass server, a gentle aroma spread and even my mind felt at ease. After eating the sweet, salty breads, one sip of warm tea reset my palate completely! Thanks to that combination, the bread kept disappearing.

Iced americano in a glass cup at a window seat

And of course, the eternal companion of bread lovers everywhere — a cool iced americano — couldn't be missing. I sat by the window and snapped a shot of the americano in its emotional glass cup, and with the background blending in, it made for a perfect mood shot. The beans had a clean, nutty flavor with no acidity, which paired perfectly with the sweet baked goods and salt bread.

The butter cave inside the salt bread

You know the true worth of salt bread comes down to this distinct 'butter cave,' right? The butter melted in moist, giving a perfect crisp-outside, chewy-inside texture. The saltiness and nutty flavor of the pearl salt on top burst in my mouth, and I understood right away why this place is known for its Yeongjongdo salt bread.

Other breads at 5PM sunset hour and what sold out

Take a look at the other breads that were in the store too!! What we ordered was delicious, but the other breads looked amazing as well. The quality is no joke!! 👍👍 I kept giving a thumbs up haha;;

Sign showing that milk bread is sold out

I really wanted to try the real milk bread made with no water added... but even though I visited in the morning, it was sold out already. 😭 I yielded to people even more serious about bread than me. Next time, I'll definitely go get it.

They also sell Taiwanese sandwiches and banana pudding. Worth keeping in mind.

If you want to taste genuinely delicious bread and desserts in Yeongjongdo, or if you're after a shot at a pretty photo zone, definitely make a stop at 5PM SUNSET HOUR. You'll fall completely for the orange-toned mood and the great taste of the bread.
