Paju Simhaksan dumpling spot: mild hot pot + chili paste, Bubyeokjeong
In short
Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu is a Pyeongyang-style dumpling hot pot restaurant on Jimok-ro in Paju, near Lotte Outlet. The writer arrived before 6 p.m. and ordered Pyeongyang mandu hot pot for 2 and one Hanwoo (Korean beef) jjabagi. When the kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) went into the mild hot pot, the writer asked for seasoned chili paste on the side to give the broth a kick. One mandu hot pot covers vegetable shabu-shabu, dumplings and kalguksu, extra rice is ₩500, and a dessert zone offers misutgaru and gangnaengi, so Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu is a place worth returning to.

Yesterday evening I was craving a steaming hot dumpling hot pot, so I went to Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu (부벽정평양만두) near Lotte Outlet in Paju. And honestly, both the mandu hot pot and the mandu jjabagi were sooo delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!

Early-dinner atmosphere and parking at Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu
I got to Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu before 6 p.m., and even that early there were a ton of people! Parking was roomy, and you have to register your car when you pay.
The exterior of Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu near Paju Lotte Outlet is so pretty, right? It felt like walking into an exhibition!

Inside, they also sell nicely packaged products in a showcase! haha Next time I'm craving hot mandu hot pot, I'll just get it to go from Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu! haha

How to order and menu prices
At Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu you can order easily by tablet at your table. As soon as we sat down, we read through the usage guide one by one and then placed our order~ haha

We ordered 1 Hanwoo jjabagi and Pyeongyang mandu hot pot for 2! And extra rice at Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu is only ₩500. Rice is usually ₩1,000 these days, so ₩500 really surprised me!!!!!!

A staff member told us there's a booklet explaining how to enjoy the hot pot best, so we studied it hard before the food came out! hahaha

Table sauces, the hourglass and the self bar
Every table has vinegar, soy sauce and chili powder ready. I found that so convenient! There's also an hourglass, which turns out to be for timing the kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) when you boil them!

The side dishes were kimchi, pickled radish and white kimchi. All of them went well with the mandu hot pot and mandu soup.
If you need more sides, there's a self bar on one side. It was super clean, with broth available and even children's tableware!
I filmed it too, and wow, what a generous spread! hahaha The portion was bigger than I expected~ hahaha

What comes in the Pyeongyang mandu hot pot, and how it tastes
The Pyeongyang mandu hot pot came with dumplings, kalguksu noodles, vegetables and suyuk (boiled pork slices)! With this much food, ₩28,000 feels like really good value!
As soon as the broth boils, you throw in all the vegetables! The mandu come steamed, so they said you only need to leave them in for 1–2 minutes before eating!
I fished out the vegetables first, and the juicy veggies plus meat combo was seriously amazing ㅠㅠ And the chewy mushrooms drove me wild!!!

The kimchi was perfectly ripe and so good eaten together, and the mandu were really packed with filling. There's a Pyeongyang mandu soup place I go to now and then, and the dumplings were similar, so I enjoyed them a lot!

Dipping the mandu in Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu's special soy sauce is also sooo good!

Is the Hanwoo jjabagi a must-order?
The Hanwoo jjabagi at Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu is a total temptress!! If you go, definitely try it too! It's a real gukbap (rice soup) joint, no question!!!

True to its name, the Hanwoo jjabagi is loaded with meat, and it had 2 dumplings in it too! The broth is spicy and a proper hangover cure!!!!!!!
I put rice in the broth and also fished out the dumplings to eat separately, and that spicy kick was totally my style!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you go to Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu, note down the Hanwoo jjabagi ★

Mild vs. spicy mandu hot pot: tip for adding chili paste
I started the Pyeongyang mandu hot pot in the mild version, then around when the kalguksu went in, I asked a staff member for dadaegi (seasoned chili paste) on the side and made it spicy!! Personally, mild < spicy, and I liked the spicy version more! hahahaha

Finally I polished off the kalguksu too. From mandu hot pot to noodles to veggie shabu-shabu, it felt like getting 3 dishes out of one, such a bargain!

Dessert zone and final thoughts
After your meal at Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu, you can finish at the dessert zone with misutgaru (roasted grain drink) and gangnaengi (puffed corn snack)!! With all this, is there any reason not to go to Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu~?

If you're looking for a good place near Paju Unjeong, Paju Lotte Outlet or Simhaksan, I absolutely recommend Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu. I'm going back next time! hahaha
