Danyang bakery salt bread sets with black garlic: Black Garlic Salt Bread
In short
Black Garlic Salt Bread is a bakery inside Danyang Gugyeong Market in Danyang, Chungbuk, selling original, garlic, and black garlic salt bread. I packed Set 1 and Set 2 to compare the flavors, and the handled paper bag was easy to carry while traveling. A fun Danyang-specific snack for trying several flavors together.

While traveling in Danyang, I stopped by Danyang Gugyeong Market. There were more garlic-based foods and snacks around the market than I expected, which made it fun to browse. The place that caught my eye this time was Black Garlic Salt Bread (흑마늘소금빵).

Store hours Mon, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun 10:00–20:00 Regularly closed every Tuesday and Wednesday
Danyang is famous for garlic, so I was especially curious because they had garlic-based options alongside regular salt bread. I already love salt bread, and it looked like a nice choice for a quick bite on a trip or as a gift, so I packed some to take away.
Since it is inside Danyang Gugyeong Market, it was easy to stop by while looking around the market. It also seemed like a good spot for anyone looking for a travel snack or bread to take away.
What salt bread sets are available?
A variety of salt bread sets

Rather than individual items, the set options stood out on the menu. There were four set menus that I saw.
- Set 1: 4 original salt breads / ₩11,000
- Set 2: 2 original + 1 garlic + 1 black garlic / ₩13,000
- Set 3: 1 original + 1 soboro + 1 garlic + 1 black garlic / ₩14,000
- Set 4: 2 garlic + 2 black garlic / ₩14,800
We wanted to compare several flavors, so we ordered two boxes: Set 1 and Set 2. There was a set with only original bread as well as sets with garlic or black garlic, making it easy to choose according to your taste. Especially for a first visit, I think Set 2, which lets you try both the original and garlic varieties, is a good choice too.

After eating at Danyang Gugyeong Market, it felt like an easy assortment to pack before heading to another attraction. I thought it would work well as a Danyang travel snack or a simple gift, too.

If you are looking for an unusual local snack while traveling in Danyang, or bread to pack up from inside Danyang Gugyeong Market, this is a place worth stopping by! If you normally enjoy salt bread, I think it would be fun to pick from the classic original, garlic, and black garlic flavors to suit your taste.
Easy-to-carry packaging for a trip
The neat packaging made it great as a travel snack
We packed two boxes, and they put them in a paper bag. I also liked that it had handles, which made it easy to carry around.

When you are traveling, you tend to have lots of things to carry, so a bag you can hold right away like this is surprisingly more convenient than packaging without handles.
What did the original salt bread taste like?
I tried the most basic original flavor first.

The outside was mild and nutty, with the gentle saltiness distinctive to salt bread. The buttery flavor and salt came together so it was not bland, but it was not overly intense either.
The appeal of salt bread is definitely the combination of buttery nuttiness and savory saltiness in one bite, and the original felt true to the basics. It was not strongly sweet, so I think it would pair nicely with coffee, and it was easy to eat one at a time as a snack.

This is Set 2: 2 original, 1 garlic, and 1 black garlic.
What is the garlic salt bread like?
Garlic salt bread tasted even more special in Danyang

I was curious about the garlic flavor too, so I tried it. The characteristic garlic aroma came through gently and went well with the buttery flavor of the salt bread. Rather than being too strong or intense simply because it was garlic, it felt like garlic flavor was added among the bread's nuttiness.

I think people who usually like garlic bread would find this a pretty fun flavor. Since Danyang itself is famous for garlic, I also liked that it felt like a local snack worth trying on a Danyang trip rather than just regular salt bread.
The deep flavor of black garlic salt bread

It had the deep, rich flavor distinctive to black garlic more than regular garlic, so it definitely had a different appeal from the original. The gentle sweetness and savory depth of black garlic mixed with the bread's buttery aroma, and they went together better than I expected.
I expected a very strong and unusual flavor because it was black garlic, but when I tried it, the nutty, savory-salty taste of the salt bread was there as a base, so it was not overwhelming. Personally, if I were packing several flavors together, I think including both original and black garlic would be a nice choice.
The combination I packed as a Danyang travel snack
The Black Garlic Salt Bread I packed while exploring Danyang Gugyeong Market was fun because it added Danyang's representative specialties, garlic and black garlic, to ordinary salt bread. If you order Set 1 with 4 original breads and Set 2 with 2 original, 1 garlic, and 1 black garlic like we did, you can compare several flavors, so I think it is a good combination for first-time visitors too.
Above all, it is inside Danyang Gugyeong Market, so it is easy to pack as a snack while browsing the market, and the handled paper bag made it convenient to carry while moving around. If you are looking for an unusual local snack in Danyang or bread to pack up from inside Danyang Gugyeong Market, it is worth a stop!
Especially if you usually enjoy salt bread, I think it would be fun to choose from the classic original, garlic, and black garlic flavors based on your preferences. If you want to enjoy food on a Danyang trip and also find a snack to pack as a memento, this is one to remember.
