Seongsu café for cinnamon grapefruit granita: Iridescent

In short

Iridescent is a calm, polished café near Seoul Forest in Seongdong, Seoul. I tried the cinnamon grapefruit granita, a well-balanced Americano, and a fig s’more brookie, then lingered in its comfortable seating. Verdict: choose the granita and brookie if you love tart flavors.

A calm space at Iridescent near Seoul Forest

I visited Iridescent, where you can enjoy refreshing cinnamon granita and coffee. It is a café that has built a reputation through word of mouth for its neat interior and coffee, and the modern, calmly ordered space felt pleasant the moment I walked in. The tables were comfortably arranged with plenty of room between seats, making it nice for an unhurried stay.

Walking from Ttukseom and Seoul Forest stations

Iridescent, a Seoul Forest café, was so easy to reach! Personally, I recommend visiting by subway. It is a five-minute walk from Ttukseom Station Exit 8 or Seoul Forest Station Exit 5; from the Seongsu-dong Galbi Alley intersection, walk 100 m toward Hoho Sikdang and you will spot the black ground-floor building~

The interior is so neat that “sophisticated” is the word that comes to mind for Iridescent.

It is pet-friendly, so it seems like a great place to bring a dog friend. When I visited, there was an insanely cute Pomeranian, and I petted that little friend a hundred times in my heart haha. Seating for guests with pets is limited, so I recommend asking the staff.

Iridescent was clearly a place whose flavors had been recognized: not only by magazines such as the November Bar & Dining magazine, but also on social media and even by the Blue Ribbon survey.

Their signature item is probably the citrus perilla-leaf smoothie, but I ordered other items because I wanted to introduce a range of menu choices.

There is also a wide variety of desserts, including croissants, pound cake, and s’more brookies, so I recommend ordering one alongside your drink!

How refreshing is the cinnamon grapefruit granita?

The cinnamon grapefruit granita (₩8,500) is a fruit sorbet combining cinnamon’s sweet aroma with grapefruit’s tartness. Since it was hot, I was drawn to something refreshing. Cinnamon and grapefruit? I was a little doubtful about that pairing, but the cinnamon was not as strong as I expected, so it was bright and refreshing without any heavy, dusty finish!

A huge recommendation for people who love sour flavors; if you do not, choose something else.

A beautifully balanced Americano

The Americano (₩5,000) had perfect balance—not overly bitter or acidic. Coffee customizations include a decaf swap for ₩1,000, an extra shot (two shots are standard) for ₩1,000, a milk choice (Oatside or Maeil soy milk) for ₩1,200, and vanilla syrup for ₩1,000!

S’more brookie with figs

The s’more brookie (₩9,500) came generously topped with ice cream and seasonal figs. Maybe because it is a “s’more” brookie, it was perfectly chewy on the outside and soft within. It was so chewy that it would barely cut with a fork.

You can enjoy it three ways: plain, with ice cream on top, or together with fig like a three-part harmony. Figs can sometimes be watery and flavorless, but these were so sweet that the figs alone were absolutely delicious.

My picks are the cinnamon grapefruit granita (because I love sour flavors so much) and the s’more brookie!

A café for a quiet stay in Seongsu

Iridescent served coffee with a fine balance of acidity and nuttiness, and the desserts we ordered alongside it were reliably delicious, too. Its overall atmosphere is clean and uncluttered, making it a good space for a quiet conversation or reading a book. The café also gets lovely natural light, so photos tend to come out nicely.

I recommend Iridescent to anyone looking nearby for good-quality coffee and comfortable seating, or for a neat neighborhood café that is not overly hectic.
