Chestnut rice cake milk bread at a Hanam Misa bakery: Easy White Bread
In short
Easy White Bread Hanam Misa is a milk bread bakery on the Misa riverside in Hanam, Gyeonggi, sharing an entrance with Menji Hanam Misa. The writer ordered a HALF loaf of soboro (crumble) chestnut rice cake milk bread with two brewing coffees, one bright and acidic and one decaf, and took the bread home, where it stayed chewy and sweet even sliced cold. With a floor-to-ceiling glass baking room to watch, Easy White Bread Hanam Misa is an easy stop with kids.

Last time I had ramen at Menji Hanam Misa, I stopped by Easy White Bread right next door too. I actually had somewhere else to be, so I planned to just grab a coffee and take the bread to go. But once I tasted the milk bread, I thought — I need to come back and actually sit down for this properly next time haha.

A bakery hidden right beside Menji Hanam Misa
Easy White Bread Hanam Misa shares an entrance with Menji Hanam Misa. I waited at Easy White Bread while waiting for a table at Menji for ramen, and by the time I came out after eating, the place had gotten really crowded.

There were people who'd finished ramen and come over for bread, people who came specifically because Easy White Bread's bread is good, and families out on café dates — the vibe was pretty lively. If you're looking for a good bakery in Hanam Misa, this is worth a stop.

Watch the loaves being baked behind glass
One thing I loved about Easy White Bread was the baking space. There's a floor-to-ceiling glass room next to the café, and inside, they were making bread the whole time.

My kids kept watching this haha. Getting to see the dough being kneaded and the bread being made up close seemed to fascinate them. Kids sometimes get bored at cafés while the adults drink coffee, but here they had fun watching the bread being made.

What we ordered at Easy White Bread Hanam Misa
Here's what we got:
- Soboro chestnut rice cake milk bread HALF
- Brewing coffee, acidic
- Brewing coffee, decaf

I wanted to eat the bread in the café, but since I had somewhere else to be, I ended up taking it to go!

How the brewing coffee tasted
For coffee, Easy White Bread makes brewing coffee with a brewing machine. I chose a bean with acidity, and ordered one cup as decaf — the coffee turned out better than I expected.
The acidic one especially was clean with a subtle aroma that went really well with the bread. They seem to use good beans, so I came expecting just a bakery and left having enjoyed great coffee too.

Why the soboro chestnut rice cake milk bread is the one to get
The soboro chestnut rice cake milk bread, tried at home!

Honestly, when I packed it to go, I figured just slicing it and eating it would be fine. So at home I didn't reheat it at all, just cut it and ate it as is... and wait, this is good too?! haha

The bread itself is chewy yet soft, and with chestnut and chapssal (glutinous rice cake) mixed in, it gets nuttier and sweeter the more you chew.
On top of the signature moist, chewy texture of milk bread, the nuttiness of the soboro crumble makes it perfect with coffee. The kids loved it too, and it disappeared in no time.

Gift sets: loaves and handmade butter jam
While looking around the store, I noticed they also sell handmade butter jam and spreads. They'd be good with milk bread, and would also make a thoughtful gift for anyone who loves bread!

There's also a gift set with either two Half loaves of milk bread or one Whole loaf, or a loaf paired with two bottles of handmade butter jam — good not just for special occasions but for a small gesture too. Next time I need a gift for my parents or a friend, I'll pick out bread and butter jam together. Getting a gift like this makes you a little happy, doesn't it? haha

Does milk bread taste better toasted in the oven?
Watching people eating in the café, I noticed they don't just hand you the bread plain — they toast it in the oven before serving. It was already good plain, but toasted lightly in the oven, the outside gets crisp and the inside stays chewy.

Worth a trip if you love Korean milk bread
Personally, I really think you should try the milk bread at Easy White Bread at least once. The soboro, chestnut and rice cake combination especially makes it more fun to eat than plain milk bread. Good to bring bread-loving kids along, good with brewing coffee, and good as a stop right after ramen at Menji like we did.
