Peach salt bread and pistachio pastry at Reelbakers, Daejeon café

Reelbakers is a bakery café in Tanbang-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon, a 5-minute walk from Exit 4 of Tanbang Station. Visiting with a friend, I tried the peach wakku salt bread, pistachio cream pastry, signature reel latte, and an Americano, and the display case had an amazing variety of pastries. It's a great spot for a day when you want to enjoy dessert properly, not just coffee.

Hakha-dong, Daejeon octopus restaurant with rice balls: Boksakkot

Boksakkot Pineun Jip Daejeon Branch is a fire-grilled webfoot octopus restaurant near Sutonggol in Hakha-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. The writer came with a 6-year-old daughter and a 17-month-old son and ordered the spicy octopus stir-fry for two with extra cheese and rice balls, plus the set's mukbap (chilled acorn jelly soup), japchae, gorgonzola pizza and octopus bibimbap. With a kids' room, its own parking lot and free coffee and snacks in the building next door after the meal, Boksakkot Pineun Jip is an easy choice for a family dinner.
