Gwangalli sashimi set with live octopus and engawa for two: Geumrang
In short
Geumrang Hoetjip Gwangalli Main Branch is a sashimi restaurant on the 6th floor of Marine Rich in Gwangalli, Busan, with a Gwangan Bridge view and both Blue Ribbon and Red Ribbon listings. On the last day of a Busan trip, a couple ordered the Subyeon Hansang (waterside set) at 60,000 won per person, which ran from abalone porridge and hoe-muchim (seasoned raw fish salad) to live octopus, corn cheese, shrimp, scallops, abalone, an engawa and maskawa sashimi platter, corn fritters, grilled merou, fish roe rice and spicy fish stew. Both the view and the spread delivered, so Geumrang Hoetjip is an easy pick for a sashimi dinner in Gwangalli.

You can't come to Busan and not eat sashimi, right?! So after carefully digging through reviews, I went to a Gwangalli local favorite with a great view AND great taste — Geumrang Hoetjip! 🖤 It was such a satisfying visit with an amazing, generous spread, so let's get right into it~.~

Where Geumrang Hoetjip is and when it opens
Geumrang Hoetjip Gwangalli Main Branch is on the 6th floor of Marine Rich, 17-5 Gwangan-haebyeon-ro 344beon-gil, Suyeong-gu, Busan. It's open daily from 11:30 to 22:50, last order 21:25.
Inside the 6th floor of Marine Rich and the Gwangan Bridge view

Here's the outside of the building! It's on the 6th floor of this building, and since it's up high I figured the view would be amazing — I was so excited! haha

Walking in, I immediately spotted a wall of celebrity signatures plus the Blue Ribbon and Red Ribbon marks! 🖤 I thought, wow, this is a real Busan gem! and got even more excited haha. There's always a reason so many people have come through here~!! haha

The interior has a wood-toned design that feels like an upscale Japanese restaurant haha. There are plenty of tables and the place is big, so it looks great for groups too — and sure enough, I saw groups, families, couples, all kinds of people there~.~
That Gwangan Bridge view right outside the window was seriously so pretty! 🖤 Ending the last day of my Busan trip with a gorgeous view, great weather, and delicious food felt amazing haha.

There's also a fish tank in the restaurant, kept super clean, with lots of fresh, lively fish swimming around — it gave me even more confidence in the place! 🖤
The menu and the 60,000-won Subyeon Hansang set

Here's the menu! It's written out in detail so you know exactly what you're getting, which I loved. There's also a lunch special, so if you want to eat without breaking the bank, I highly recommend it — it looked like a lot of people order it! 👍🏻👍🏻 We agonized over what to get and eventually landed on...
Subyeon Hansang (waterside set), 60,000 won per person
Since it was our last day and I felt like I hadn't really properly enjoyed sashimi on this Busan trip, I decided to go all out with this one! 🖤 The spread looked so generous, I was sold haha.

By the way, you order through a tablet at the table! haha
First courses: abalone porridge and hoe-muchim

They start by setting the table so nicely!! 🖤 We got wrap ingredients, abalone porridge, hoe-muchim (spicy raw fish salad), and sauces. haha. The Busan-style makjang (fermented sauce) was so good, and the sashimi mixed into the hoe-muchim was thick and delicious!! We mixed in some noodles with the hoe-muchim and it was amazing — basically a killer bibim noodle dish!🤤
Ta-da!!! And this is before the main sashimi even arrives — seriously, you could get full on this alone!! 👀 Steamed egg, corn cheese, live octopus, kimchi pancake, scallops, abalone, marinated shrimp, boiled octopus, all kinds of seafood — it just kept coming!!!
The table wobbles a little under all the food, but isn't the spread amazing?? haha. It really lives up to the saying "the table legs are about to break"!! 👀
It might look a little squeamish, but I took a photo of the live octopus while it was still moving haha. It was so fresh and lightly seasoned, super delicious! 🖤 My partner devoured it haha.

A person who loves corn cheese at a sashimi restaurant..!! That's me!!🖤 With corn cheese on the table, it's basically perfect!! The cheese was just the right amount and there was plenty of corn, so I scraped the whole dish clean haha.

My partner is allergic to shrimp, so all the shrimp was mine! Even so, huge thanks for peeling such delicious shrimp for us 🖤 They were plump and so tasty! I ate every single one~ Shrimp is the best!!🤤 hahahahaha

We also thoroughly enjoyed the scallops and abalone!! Everything was so fresh, I got why this is known as a Gwangalli local favorite!!

Such a happy meal with a pretty view and so much food!! haha. There's no way food can taste bad with a view like this ㅜㅠ
The main sashimi platter: engawa and maskawa

Ta-da!!! The main sashimi platter has finally arrived!!🖤 So many varieties!! Personally I love being able to try a bit of everything like this — loved it!! haha
The sashimi types included engawa (flounder fin), sea eel, sea bass, maskawa, and more! 🖤 And there was a sea cucumber innards sauce on the side too! haha
Some sashimi restaurants slice things very thinly, but here they cut it thick so you really get the texture!🖤 Just the right thickness..🫶🏻 You could really feel the texture, and it was so good! haha

Every piece had great texture and flavor, but personally I found the engawa the softest and most delicious!🖤 It was even better dipped in the Busan-style makjang haha.

Finishing with corn fritters, grilled merou, fish roe rice and spicy fish stew
Even after finishing all the sashimi, it wasn't over yet!!!!👀 Corn fritters, grilled merou, spicy fish stew, and fish roe rice!!! We were already about to burst, but it all looked so good we couldn't hold back ㅠㅠ

I love corn fritters, and these had seasoning sprinkled on top, which made them extra delicious!🖤

The fish roe rice here is genuinely so good!!!🖤 There's a huge amount of roe, plus some kimchi mixed in for seasoning, and since it's served in a stone pot it gets nice and crispy — even more delicious ㅠㅠ I want to eat it again ㅠㅠ🤤

The grilled merou had a bit of a cream sauce on it, giving it a fusion feel — uniquely delicious!🖤

At a lot of other places the spicy fish stew is just bones, but here there was a decent amount of actual fish meat and plenty of mushrooms too, which I loved!🖤 It was spicy in a comforting way, not overwhelming, so it was a great way to end the meal!! haha. This place really serves generous portions — you can eat until you're totally stuffed!!! If you're looking for a great Gwangalli sashimi restaurant in Busan, I highly recommend Geumrang Hoetjip for the pretty Gwangan Bridge view plus the great food and spread!!🫶🏻
