Jeonju foot bath café with Pengsu Zone seat and lemon iced tea

Anma Jogyok Cafe Jeonmang is a massage and foot bath café on the second floor of a hanok on Eunhaeng-ro inside Jeonju Hanok Village. The 2-person basic course — a 30-minute aroma foot bath, shoulder massage and a drink — came with a rose foot soak at the Pengsu Zone seat, where a shoulder massager and hand pressure tools kept going for about 30 to 40 minutes. For feet worn out from a day of walking Jeonju, nothing beats a window seat with a hanok view.

Jeonju skewer shop grilling to order near Gyeonggijeon: Munkkocchi

Munkkocchi Mungangjeong Jeonju Hanok Village Branch is an octopus and chicken skewer shop a 3-minute walk from Gyeonggijeon Shrine in Jeonju. Munkkocchi's owner grilled the cheese chicken skewer and the katsuobushi octopus skewer one by one the moment they were ordered instead of reheating pre-grilled stock, and the octopus stayed tender down to the last piece. For freshly grilled skewers in Jeonju Hanok Village, Munkkocchi is a solid choice.

Dakgangjeong shop in Jeonju Hanok Village, medium vs large: Mannyeon

Mannyeon Dakgangjeong Hanok Village Direct Store is a takeout dakgangjeong (Korean sweet fried chicken bites) shop on the main Taejo-ro lane near Gyeonggijeon Shrine and Jeondong Cathedral in Jeonju. The order here was a medium shrimp and chicken gangjeong in mild flavor (23,000 won) plus sweet potato cheese sticks (3,000 won), and the owner held up the medium and large boxes side by side so the portions could be compared before ordering. Even after cooling on the way home, the chicken stayed chewy and the fresh-fruit sauce kept its savory-sweet depth, making Mannyeon Dakgangjeong a solid late-night takeout pick.
