Korean BBQ team lunch, Bangi Station: lamb in beet wraps, Dangsan Odol
In short
Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch (당산오돌 방이점) is a charcoal-grill Korean BBQ restaurant in Songpa, Seoul, a 3-minute walk from Exit 4 of Bangi Station, serving beef, lamb, pork and chicken feet. For a team lunch, the writer ordered Australian shoulder rack lamb ribs 200g (₩25,000), kkodeulsal (a chewy special pork cut) 180g (₩18,000) and freshwater snail doenjang stew (₩6,000), wrapped in beet-pickled radish slices and pickled perilla leaves with meljeot (anchovy dipping sauce). The lamb was tender with no gamey smell and the kkodeulsal firm and chewy, and with a large private car park and group rooms, Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch makes an excellent spot for a team lunch.

Getting to Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch from Bangi Station
Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch is 196m, about a 3-minute walk, from Exit 4 of Bangi Station on Line 5, and you just go straight. From Olympic Park Station on Line 9 it is 767m, about 13 minutes on foot, also straight ahead.

It was my first visit, but I got there without getting lost, and I'm about to go in through the south door. Two cars were parked in front of the shop. Use whichever subway line is more convenient for you.

Parking and group rooms at Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch
By the north door there is a big private car park that fits 10 or more cars. Being able to drive comfortably makes it a good spot for a group meal too.

Inside, there are big halls on the south and north sides with the kitchen in the middle. The wood-tone interior has a roomy feel, just right for a Korean restaurant.
Next to it are rooms: five 4-person tables and four rooms, and when the middle is opened up it becomes a room for up to 36 people, so it seems well suited to team dinners. The manager showed us to a cozy table by the wall of the south hall, and we're about to order.

What we ordered at Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch

You can eat beef, lamb, pork and chicken feet here, so since it had been a while I ordered the Australian shoulder rack lamb ribs 200g (₩25,000). I also ordered the signature "Best of Best" kkodeulsal 180g (₩18,000), a pork neck cut said to yield only about 400g per pig.
Other mains include snowflake galbi (marbled ribs), odol galbi, silk mango fresh pork neck, seasoned pork neck, scored pork skin and charcoal-grilled spicy chicken feet, so eat to your taste. From the dessert section I added snail doenjang stew (₩6,000) to round out lunch. There are also more dessert items, lunch menus, noodles, alcohol and drinks, so check the menu and choose by group size and taste.
Australian shoulder rack lamb ribs, kkodeulsal and the table setup

The lamb ribs and kkodeulsal arrived. The lamb is premium Australian shoulder rack, 200g, and kkodeulsal is a prized special cut that yields only 400g per pig, and is said to be very popular.

I start lunch by grilling the shoulder rack lamb ribs. The table was set with side dishes, sauces and seasonings: pickled onion, seasoned radish strips, perilla leaf pickles, beet radish wraps, salt, garlic, ssamjang (wrap paste), spicy soy sauce, wasabi and a cumin-style zhi ran sauce for the lamb. For any extra sides or sauces, use the self-bar.

Lamb with zhi ran and salt, wrapped in beet radish and perilla pickles
I dipped a nicely cooked piece of shoulder rack lamb in the zhi ran: tender, no gamey smell, and since it had been a while the lamb tasted even better 👍💯😅

I also tried the lamb lightly dipped in salt, and wrapped it in lettuce with rice, garlic, ssamjang and seasoned radish, to eat a bit of everything for lunch.

Wrapping lamb with garlic, seasoned radish and rice in a beet radish wrap (mussam) seemed even better, and now we share the snail doenjang stew as we eat.

Wrapping lamb with garlic, radish wrap and rice in a perilla leaf pickle was salty and delicious.
Kkodeulsal with salt and meljeot, finished with snail doenjang stew
After finishing the lamb, I grilled kkodeulsal, the signature best menu item of Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch, to finish the meal.

The kkodeulsal was cooked just right, and a piece lightly dipped in salt was really chewy and springy, and delicious. I also wrapped it in lettuce with rice, garlic and seasoned radish and enjoyed a happy lunch.

Kkodeulsal with rice, seasoned radish and garlic is delicious, and I finished the meal with the doenjang stew, which is packed with snails.
Kkodeulsal dipped in meljeot (salted anchovy sauce) is even better, and wrapped in a radish wrap with rice, garlic and seasoned radish the texture is great. Eating a bit of everything is nutritious, and I feel confident I could beat the sweltering weather.
After the meal: on to Olympic Park
After lunch at Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch, I'm going to stop by a rally site in Olympic Park where lots of people have gathered, to pray for the country.

From Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch I head toward the Ticketlink Live Arena (the handball stadium) in Olympic Park.

Soon the Olympic Park Rose Square comes into view. The roses are still red, and though full bloom is over, their beauty and passion seem unchanged. Arriving at Olympic Park, there are huge crowds coming and going, and hot, fervent choral singing rings out loudly ✌️😅
