Bucheon beer pub with truffle potato pancake: Geumbyeol Beer Hyundai

I went straight to Bucheon after work to do an escape room, and by the end I was starving. The theme was pretty physical too, which probably didn't help. I'd already scoped out a spot nearby where I could grab a beer and fill up at the same time, so I headed there.

Parking: the map listing is wrong

Naver Map says you get 1 hour of free parking if you park at Ahn Jung-geun Park public parking lot, but when I asked on my way out, staff told me that info is wrong. Something to keep in mind if you're driving, so you don't get confused.

What the second-floor hall feels like

Walking into the 2nd-floor store, the flashy chandelier lighting, dark wood-tone tables, and retro wallpaper pattern all came together for a nostalgic feel.

The space is huge with lots of tables, so it works great for hangouts with friends, dates, or even bigger group gatherings. The soft lighting made the whole drinking session feel even more relaxed.

The signature menu had pastang (pasta-topped fried chicken), chicken, potato pancake, and pizza — they all looked delicious, so it took forever to decide.

There's chicken, pizza, Western-style bar food, signature dishes, spoonable snacks, fried snacks, and dry snacks — such a wide range that you can find something for whatever you're in the mood for and enjoy a cold drink with it.

There were also light, dessert-like snacks and cold dishes, good for wrapping up the night toward the end of a drinking session.

Truffle potato pancake under a nest of kataifi

First up was the truffle potato pancake. The moment I saw it, there was no way I wasn't ordering it — completely different look from the potato pancakes I usually see, and I was so curious what the texture and flavor would be like.

As soon as it was served, a subtle, savory aroma spread across the table — a real standout of a pancake. Instead of the usual flat jeon shape, it had kataifi noodles piled on top, mounded up like a bird's nest — such an unusual look.

The potatoes were sliced thin and fried, so crispy you could actually hear the crunch — an extremely crispy texture. The outside was crunchy like a snack, the inside savory, and as I chewed the truffle aroma and salty cheese flavor kept building — the perfect bite to call for a cold beer.

There was no way I wasn't having a beer with this. It paired so well with the food that the drinks just kept going down smoothly.

Chicken tenderloin yurinchi with cheongyang chili

The second dish at Geumbyeol Beer Bucheon Hyundai branch was chicken tenderloin yurinchi (Korean-style fried chicken salad)!! A generous bed of cabbage on the bottom, topped with crispy-outside-tender-inside fried chicken tenderloin piled high with nuts and chili — the colors were so pretty.

The chicken tenderloin was lean and tender, wrapped in a thin, crispy batter — the texture was excellent.

The sweet, tangy, salty special soy sauce pooled underneath soaked into every bite, so it never felt greasy, and topping a piece of chicken with a bit of spicy cheongyang chili gave a clean heat that perfectly cut through the richness of the fried batter.

After a hectic, busy day, sitting down in a place with such a nice atmosphere and good food in the evening really washed away the day's fatigue.
