I had a weekday evening appointment in Yeouido and wanted to have a proper dinner while enjoying a light beer after work, so I headed to Robadayakki Sodam, an izakaya in Yeouido. There are so many office workers in Yeouido, which means there's no shortage of bars for a weekday evening. But when two people go together, there's always one dilemma — you want to try a bunch of different dishes, but ordering them one by one gets pricey and portions add up fast!

That's where Robadayakki Sodam shines — they have a set menu perfect for two. Maybe that's why quite a few couples on dates were there too : ) I was curious what "robadayakki" meant, so I looked it up — turns out it's a traditional Japanese charcoal-grilling style of cooking.

Sodam is located near the KBS annex in Yeouido. From outside, you can't miss it — there's a big round sign reading "Robadayakki Sodam." True to Yeouido on a weekday evening, the area was packed with office workers grabbing dinner or drinks after work. We had booked ahead.

"Reserved" sign placed on the table

Seeing the "Reserved" sign on the table gave me a strange sense of relief. Popular restaurants and bars in Yeouido tend to be packed even on weeknights, so if you already have a set schedule, booking ahead is the way to go for peace of mind. Plenty of customers had to turn away for lack of open seats while we were there.

Wood-toned izakaya interior and seating at Robadayakki Sodam

Step inside and the wood-toned interior is the first thing you notice. Wood is used generously throughout, and combined with warm lighting, it really felt like a classic Japanese izakaya. There are open bar seats as well as table seats. Since you can watch the food being prepared in the center of the space, the distinctive robatayaki vibe came through even more.

It's less about flashy or sleek style, and more about a comfortable place to sit down for a drink after work. Robadayakki Sodam felt right for a Yeouido team dinner, drinks with coworkers, or a casual night out for two.

Yeouido izakaya recommendation: Robadayakki Sodam

After we sat down, the first thing to arrive was a fried egg! Usually when you think of a standard izakaya starter, you picture edamame or simple snacks. But Robadayakki Sodam serves a fried egg on an iron plate. Sounds simple, but eaten piping hot, it was surprisingly tasty.

A glass of Kirin draft beer

It had been a while since I'd had Kirin draft beer. There's just something about draft that canned beer can't match.

It made for a great pairing while sipping beer before the main dishes arrived.

What comes in the 67,000-won hungry-for-2 set

And here's what we ordered that day. True to its name, we went with the hungry-for-2 set — because we were both, well, hungry. The set includes three items: small sashimi, assorted skewers, and odeng nabe (fish cake hot pot).

The price is ₩67,000 (as of August 2026). When two people go to an izakaya, you want sashimi, you want skewers, and you want a warm soup too — but ordering all of that à la carte can pile up fast. The best part about Robadayakki Sodam Yeouido Branch is that the set menu lets you try all the izakaya classics in one go.

Small sashimi platter

First up was the sashimi. It included salmon along with several other types of raw fish. It might not look like much in photos, but considering the skewers and odeng nabe still to come, it was a fitting portion for two. What I liked most was that it wasn't just one kind of fish — a nice variety came out.

Thick-cut slices with a touch of wasabi paired perfectly with a cold draft beer, as expected. The salmon in particular had just the right amount of fattiness, which I personally loved. Rather than a dedicated sashimi-focused meal, think of this as part of a broader after-work drinking spread alongside other snacks.

Assorted grilled skewers

Assorted skewers including ginkgo nuts

Personally, the assorted skewers were the most izakaya-like dish at Robadayakki Sodam. It immediately made sense why the restaurant is called Robadayakki Sodam.

A single plate arrives with a variety of skewers, so picking through each one is half the fun. Chicken skewers, mushroom, garlic, ginkgo nuts, and more all came together. With this much variety, you end up saying things like "I'll have this one," "let's split this one" — those little moments of fun.

Eating them fresh off the grill while still warm was the best, and the flavor was a completely different experience from the sashimi, which made the combination in the set work really well. A bite of sashimi, a sip of beer; a skewer, another sip of beer. The hungry-for-2 set had that fun of picking-and-choosing.

Odeng nabe (fish cake hot pot)

When you're a few drinks in, you inevitably crave warm soup. With the odeng nabe arriving last, the name "hungry-for-2 set" finally made sense. The pot held several kinds of fish cake along with udon noodles and crown daisy greens, making it a fairly hearty dish. Since everything was skewered, it was easy to pull pieces out one by one.

After the sashimi and skewers, a sip of hot broth hit the spot. Having a soup-based dish like this among your bar snacks really does make a noticeable difference. Something cold like sashimi, something grilled like the skewers, and something hot like the odeng nabe — the three different flavor profiles kept things interesting all the way through.

An additional round of cold draft beer with snacks
Yeouido izakaya: Robadayakki Sodam

With food like this coming out, one beer just wasn't going to cut it. (My partner keeps calling me a beer goblin.) So, one more round of cold draft! Having skewers and draft beer at an izakaya after work is basically pure healing. Sometimes in Yeouido, on a weekday evening, you don't want a quiet meal — you want good snacks and a beer. Sodam felt like exactly the place for that kind of mood.

Is the hungry-for-2 set enough food for two people?

Since the menu is literally called the "hungry-for-2 set," I was curious whether it would actually be enough to fill two people up. My partner and I hadn't eaten dinner separately beforehand, and it turned out to be a solid amount to pair with drinks. Actually, more than solid — it's quite a lot. The sashimi alone might look a little light, but once you work through the skewers and odeng nabe, it's surprisingly filling.

So if you've already had dinner and are stopping by for a second round, the hungry-for-2 set might actually be too much. But as a combined dinner-and-drinks stop after work, I'd recommend Robadayakki Sodam Yeouido Branch.

Yeouido izakaya recommendation: Robadayakki Sodam

Robadayakki Sodam is a great izakaya for two to relax over drinks on a weekday evening in Yeouido. Best of all, ordering just the hungry-for-2 set lets you try sashimi, assorted skewers, and odeng nabe all at once — no menu agonizing required.

Personally, I loved the order of sashimi, then the warm skewers, then the hot odeng nabe, all paired with draft beer. The wood-toned, Japanese-izakaya mood also suited an after-work drink perfectly.

On those Yeouido evenings when just a meal feels underwhelming, but just drinks would leave you hungry — how about the hungry-for-2 set and a beer at Robadayakki Sodam Yeouido Branch?!
