Where is Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch on Dalmaji-gil?
After work I went with my mom for Chinese food at Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch (부엌간 차이니즈 해운대점). It's near the start of Dalmaji-gil, so it's an easy walk from Jwa-dong, Dalmaji-gil, and Jung-dong in Haeundae, and there's free parking at the building so it was super convenient to drive over after work too! My office is in Haeundae Jung-dong so Bueokgan is really great for eating out right after work.

What is the atmosphere like inside Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch?
When you think of a typical Chinese restaurant, you probably picture a place thick with oil smells and crowded, cramped tables. Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch feels completely different the moment you open the door.

With calm lighting, classic interior, and tables set spaciously apart, it feels like you've walked into an upscale Chinese restaurant inside a hotel. And it's not just the space that's fancy — you can feel the care in the staff's service, the table setting, even each piece of tableware.

What mom and I ordered at Bueokgan, and what it cost
Mom-and-daughter picks
- Poached-egg five-layer pork ganjjajang * 1 / ₩10,000
- Black vinegar pork loin tangsuyuk * 1 / ₩28,000
- Mapo tofu rice bowl * 1 / ₩12,000

Poached-egg pork belly ganjjajang: why this black bean noodle dish surprised me
The first thing we tasted was the poached-egg five-layer pork ganjjajang, a dish that really shows Bueokgan Chinese's character. On the plate sat glossy black bean sauce, five-layer pork belly, and a plump poached egg, all looking delicious.

The poached egg was hiding underneath a bed of julienned cucumber.
When I broke the egg and mixed it into the noodles and sauce, a strong smoky wok aroma hit immediately. The sauce isn't heavy or pasty — the deep savory flavor of black bean sauce and the smoky char of stir-frying really come through. Add the thick, chewy bites of five-layer pork belly, and savory juices and smoky flavor filled my mouth. This was my first time having jjajangmyeon with pork belly in it, and the combination is fantastic.

How spicy is Bueokgan's mapo tofu rice bowl?
The mapo tofu rice bowl at Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is ₩12,000. From the moment it's set on the table, the rich, spicy aroma really stirs your appetite. The sauce soaked deep into the soft tofu delivers spiciness, savory depth, and a subtle numbing tingle all at once.
It's not just blindly spicy or harsh — it's a flavor built up in layers of spice.

Pile the tofu and the rich sauce on top of the rice and mix it in — it's spicy yet savory, and thanks to the deep flavor that lingers the more you eat, it's hard to put your spoon down.
It's not a mapo tofu that hits your tongue with pure heat — there's a subtle aroma and aftertaste that lingers even after you're done eating. It felt like traditional cooking methods with a spoonful of Bueokgan's own upscale sensibility mixed in... I want to eat this again.

Black vinegar pork loin tangsuyuk: how is it different from usual sweet and sour pork?
The last dish to arrive was the black vinegar pork loin tangsuyuk, overwhelming from its looks and aroma alone. Apparently Bueokgan Chinese makes its tangsuyuk sauce with black vinegar imported directly from China, and maybe that's why the very first taste is completely different from the sweet, tangy tangsuyuk we're used to!!

The distinctive crisp tanginess of black vinegar wakes up your palate, and the more you chew, the more a subtle sweetness and deep savoriness come through. Mix in the crunchy onions with the sauce and any fatigue from the day just melts away.
Inside the crispy batter is thick, juicy, tender pork loin. Every bite releases juices, and the fragrant black vinegar sauce cleanly cuts through any greasiness, so you keep going right down to the last piece.

When is the best time to visit Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch?
