First day of Chuseok holiday, date with my partner in Mullae~~ It was our first time in Mullae-dong, and while we were wandering around trying to figure out where to eat dinner, we passed by Palmi Jogae Kalguksu and walked in because the sign looked pretty and the place looked clean. Turns out, without us knowing, it's apparently a famous shabu-shabu spot in Mullae. And this isn't just any shabu-shabu place — it's a seafood shabu-shabu place.
What Palmi Jogae Kalguksu looks like inside, and are there private rooms?
Walking into Palmi Jogae Kalguksu, I got a spacious, clean, and cozy feeling. The interior was pretty and the tables were spaced well apart, so we could eat comfortably. It looked like it hadn't been open long, but right after we sat down, people kept streaming in. Must be a Mullae hotspot. The tables are wide and there's a separate room, too, making it a great Mullae restaurant for family gatherings or group dinners — Palmi Jogae Kalguksu, the shabu-shabu kalguksu spot.

There's no parking right in front of the restaurant, so we parked at a nearby public parking lot and walked over. It was close, about a 5-minute walk from the lot.
Palmi clam kalguksu prices and the add-on menu
We ordered the Palmi Jogae Kalguksu. It's ₩15,900 for weekday lunch, ₩18,900 for dinner/weekend. Side add-ons include pork neck for ₩9,900, beef brisket for ₩9,900, and vegetables/mushrooms for ₩5,000.
The clam kalguksu came out not long after we ordered. Honestly, the size was so overwhelming that I was startled the moment it landed on the table lol. I thought the table legs might snap. Vegetables and meat that clearly looked fresh, plus seafood. This isn't your typical bajirak kalguksu (clam noodle soup) — it's a place where you cook all kinds of seafood and shabu-shabu ingredients together.
Meat, vegetables, mushrooms, scallops, clams, mussels, even abalone — super generous and a huge portion!!
The best order to eat the Palmi clam shabu-shabu course
Palmi Jogae Kalguksu kindly has instructions for how to enjoy it properly.
- Once the broth boils, add the mussels and abalone first to make the broth deep and refreshing.
- Add vegetables, meat, mushrooms, and clams and enjoy it shabu-shabu style.
- Finish with kalguksu noodles and abalone porridge.
You put the mussels and abalone in first and let them boil. The abalone was really chewy and delicious.
Look at the amount of scallops. So, so generous.
Put in the meat, mushrooms, and vegetables in order and now all that's left is to wait for it to boil. The weather's gotten pretty chilly lately and I was craving something hot in broth, so this hit the spot exactly. Felt like eating a health-boosting meal haha. The broth was light and clean, which I loved. All the ingredients were fresh and the portions were so generous that I got full fast.
Finishing the course with kalguksu noodles and abalone porridge
Even if you're full, there's always room for kalguksu haha. Kalguksu is a must with shabu-shabu. Eating it with kimchi was a perfect combo. The noodles were incredibly chewy.
I thought we were done eating, but we weren't lol. There was still abalone porridge left. It was so nutty and delicious, we scraped the bowl clean. And to finish it all off, a complimentary wine slushie from the restaurant~~
Every ingredient was so fresh and delicious at this Mullae favorite, this Mullae hotspot, Palmi Jogae Kalguksu. If you love shabu-shabu and seafood, you have to come here. The owner was also super kind and it was all really satisfying. Definitely coming back! If you're craving something warm and brothy in Mullae, and looking for a menu where you can enjoy seafood, shabu-shabu, and kalguksu all together, this is a place that'll come to mind.
