Gusan Station café with drinks and instant photos: Ward Coffee

How close is it to Gusan Station, and is takeout available?

I stopped by Ward Coffee Gusan Station Branch (와드커피 구산역점) to pick up drinks with my child. It is about 102 m from Exit 2 of Gusan Station, and the yellow sign made it easy to find.

The address is 129 Seooreung-ro, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, South Korea (서울 은평구 서오릉로 129 1층 2호). Takeout, delivery, Wi-Fi, and simple payment are available, and there are separate restrooms for men and women. Is there anything to look at while waiting with a child?

From outside, I thought it was a small café focused on takeout, but once inside, there was more to look at than I expected.

The bright space was decorated in white and yellow, with characters and figurines throughout. My son and I looked at familiar characters one by one, including Shin-chan and Woody. The café is not especially large, but the small space was charmingly decorated with props.

How much was the Americano, and what did it taste like?

The first thing I noticed was the ₩1,500 Americano. I ordered an iced Americano, and it tasted cool and clean. It felt like good value because the price was not burdensome and the taste was decent too.

Could they adjust the fizz in my child's lemonade?

My son likes lemonade but cannot drink strongly carbonated drinks well. When ordering, I asked whether it could be made with half sparkling water and half plain water, and that day they made it as requested. The carbonation was milder, so my son enjoyed it too.

The staff kindly accommodated my request, which I appreciated as someone visiting with a child.

Looking around the café, I also saw food to have with drinks, including bagels, crungji (croissant flatbread), and pretzels.

How do you use the instant photo machine inside?

While waiting for our drinks, we could take an instant photo using the “Chalkak” photo machine. After choosing decorations and a layout yourself, you take the photo and a receipt-like black-and-white print comes out right away.

I took one myself, and it was fun. The bottom of the photo included an introduction to the café and the branch name, and each person could use it for one photo. I had stopped by for coffee but left with a small memory with my child.

The wall around the photo machine was covered with photos taken by customers. Looking at the photos, character figurines, dolls, and props meant we did not get bored while waiting for drinks with my child.

Are there options for people who do not drink coffee?

The menu had ades, smoothies, ice cream, and desserts in addition to coffee. When I visited, they were also selling Cheongchun Bingsu, shaved ice with red beans.

I liked that there were drinks for a child who does not drink coffee to choose from. On this visit, I was satisfied with the clean-tasting iced Americano and the lemonade adjusted to suit my child, and we could even take an instant photo. The space is not large, but it was nice for taking out drinks and looking around briefly with a child near Gusan Station.
