Is it an easy stop near Gusan Station?

Ward Coffee Gusan Station Branch (와드커피 구산역점) is an Yeokchon-dong café whose cute exterior had caught my eye whenever I passed by. It is right near Gusan Station, so it was a good place to stop for coffee while taking a neighborhood walk, as we did.

What is the atmosphere and what is there to see inside?

It was a small café on the first floor. The interior felt cozy, with small decorative items neatly arranged throughout, making it fun to look around.

There was also a receipt photo booth. We took photos while waiting for our menu items, and they became a small memory I found myself pulling out again on the way home.

How do you order, and what do items cost?

We ordered at the kiosk. There was a wide range of desserts as well as drinks, and the prices felt manageable, so we chose more items than usual.

I liked being able to order a good variety of desserts I wanted to try. With so many items, they did not all come out at once, so we received and tasted them one by one.

Which desserts stood out most?

My favorite items that day were the mini glutinous-rice hotteok (sweet filled pancakes) and whole potato bread. The mini hotteok were bite-sized, with a balanced sweetness and a pleasantly chewy texture.

The whole potato bread was mild rather than strongly seasoned. Its nutty, plain potato flavor refreshed my palate among the sweeter desserts, which made me like it even more.

What are the portion and flavor like for the red bean shaved-ice milk parfait?

The red bean shaved-ice milk parfait felt large for ₩4,400. It had a generous amount of ice cream, and I liked the combination with the sweet red beans.

Did the waffle and butter bar go well with the Americano?

As we ate the desserts that came out first, the iced Americano, classic butter bar, and caramel Lotus waffle arrived as well.

The iced Americano had low acidity and a nutty flavor. While we were eating in the café, many customers also came by to pick up delivery-app or takeout orders.

The caramel Lotus waffle was freshly baked and crisp. The whipped cream topped with caramel and Lotus was served separately, so we could dip the waffle in as much as we wanted. I also liked that the waffle did not get soggy.

The classic butter bar was thick, with a dense texture and buttery aroma. It paired well with the nutty Americano.

What would I order on a return visit?

With such a varied dessert selection, I thought it would be easy to choose items even when visiting with people who have different tastes. The chewy hotteok and sweet parfait were especially memorable, and I would order them again on my next stop.
